10,000 Petitioners Gather in Beijing

On March 4, large numbers of petitioners from all over China
gathered at the State Bureau for Letters and Complaints.
This is during the Two Sessions of the
Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The petitioners were expressing their grievances. Beijing
police stepped up to arrest petitioners as they gathered.

According to Radio Free Asia, petitioner Li Tieqiang
said that several lanes near the State Bureau for
Letters and Complaints were packed with people.

The estimated number of people was 10,000.

These petitioners had used a variety of means to escape
the police to intercept before they arrived at the scene.

Li Tieqiang said that at the scene, many petitioners were
talking about how they escaped local personnel blockades.

It is reported that a large number of police contained
hotels to search for petitioners coming to Beijing.
About 200 taxi drivers in Sichuan Province went to
Beijing to petition during the two sessions of CCP.
They were blocked in the hotel by dozens of policemen.

30 petitioners from Hubei Province were taken
away immediately after they checked into a hotel.

Call for Visa Punishment for Ruthless CCP Officials

It is currently the Two Sessions of the CCP,
the National People’s Congress and the CPPCC.
The US based Ruthless Officials Report Network
published an appeal letter online from March 3, written
by U.S. Ambassador Gary Locke in English and Chinese.
It asked the United States to deny visas to Chinese officials
who directly participated in the persecution of dissidents,
religious minorities, and human rights activists.

The Ruthless Officials Report Network website is dedicated
to exposing and archiving lists of officials, policemen and
judges who violate fundamental human rights in China.
It exposes their personal information and their crimes.

Currently, this site has a list of nearly 400 officials
who are accused of human rights violations.

The letter said, “I hope that when the U.S. Embassy and
Consulate evaluate the Chinese visa applications, they
can refer to the list of ‘cruel officials’ on our website.
For applicants with a criminal background in human rights
violations, they will implement strict and clear visa sanctions."

Land Disputes Intensify in Jiexi

Land rights protests involving villagers in Shangpu,
Jiexi, Guangdong Province, continue to develop.
Last week, thousands of villagers protested against the
collusion between businessmen and illegal land seizures.
The protests had bloody conflicts.
The police sealed the village for a week.
On March 3, villagers also displayed
a banner at the entrance to the village.
It read, “Strongly urge legitimate democratic elections",
and called for a vote to decide how the land was used.

According to local villagers, the CCP
Two Sessions were held in Beijing.
Beijing authorities sent police to guard the entrance
of the village in order to suppress their resistance.
Currently, the police have sealed off the main road
to Shangpu-Jingmian Road, as well as other sections.
This is to prevent outsiders from entering,
especially the involvement of foreign reporters.
Meanwhile, the villagers also feared gang retaliation and
that the police would come to arrest people in the village.
They set up roadblocks at the entrance and checked
visitors. Recently, two sides went into a confrontation.
