Wang Lijun “Does Not Contest Charges”

The trial of former Chongqing police Chief Wang Lijun
ended on Sept.18. Wang admitted to the charge of defection.
He didn’t contest the charges against him for
accepting bribes and illegal surveillance.
It is said the verdict will be announced in 10 days.

In Chengdu on Sept. 18, Taiwan’s Central News Agency
reported that the court said in a statement that
Wang didn’t contest the charges of bending the law for
his own ends, defection, abuse of power, and accepting bribes.

Sources said that during the prosecution, the authorities
requested a lighter punishment for Wang regarding the charges
of bending the law for selfish ends and defection, as he played
an important role in the investigation of Gu Kailai’s murder case.
In addition, he voluntarily surrendered after defection.

Wang could be sentenced to a long jail term
or receive the death penalty.
Wang’s lawyer, Wang Yuncai, said that Wang Lijun
exposed “others’” crimes and
played an important role in those investigations.
In addition, he has had a meritorious performance.

Radio France Internationale said that Wang Lijun had
“meritorious performance” and “played an important role in the investigation of others’ crimes.”
Whom does this refer to?

Gu Kailai’s murder case or Wang’s boss, Bo Xilai’s case?
Outsiders find it difficult to confirm.

The BBC cited Beijing’s law expert who said it was the Chinese
Communist Party’s (CCP) arrangement to sentence him lightly.

On Sept.18 in Beijing, in front of the Japanese Embassy,

Some people are still waiting for police to allow them
to join the protest.

Some protesters tried to upload some photos
of the demonstration onto a microblog, but failed.

Beijing Students Wrote Open Letter to Japanese Prime Minister

Recently, an open letter to the Japanese Prime Minister
was widely spread over the Internet.
The letter was signed by the Beijing University Students Union
and the Association for Graduates.

The letter said: “We strongly urge you and your government
to make the Sino-Japan relationship a priority,
stopp the risks and waking up to end the wrong
deed in purchasing the Islands.
In addition, we have never feared bleeding and death,
we can face any challenge.”

Zhou Xi, special correspondent of Radio France Internationale,
said that the letter was filled with abuse and challenge.
He said that people will think that the country backpedaled.

The Cultural Revolution took place when “US Imperialism
and Soviet Revisionism” were criticized.

The article said that recently, scandals constantly
crop up in Beijing University.
Beijing University Students Union and Association
for Graduates suddenly shouted “never mind bleeding and dying.”
Let’s ask, which direction do the student union lead China in?
