Princelings Push for Reforms

The dismissal of Bo Xilai, and Zhou Yongkang’s
downfall, have caused a political earthquake in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The voices pushing the political reform continues.

According to media in Hong Kong, more people
are suggesting constitutional reform.
This includes CCP princelings, who under the current
economic crisis, are waiting for someone to take the lead.

Yanhuang Chunqiu is a magazine that supporters
of reform in China often publish articles in.
On April 5, Hong Kong’s Open magazine reported that
Yanhuang Chunqiu hosted a forum.
The discussion was about the Bo Xilai affair,
and China’s political reform.
Attendees said that the moral standard of Mainland Chinese
has declined, so maintaining “stability” was hard to continue.
They also believed that people should echo
Premier Wen Jiaobao’s call for reform.

Chief Editor Xu Qingquan said that
now everyone hopes for change.
No matter whether they are leftists or rightists,

and regardless of whether they are high ranking officials
or people from grassroots, all are hoping for change.

Sources said that recently, CCP princelings
have been very active.
Those who supported constitutional democracy include;
Hu Deping, Hu Yaobang’s son;
Ye Xiangzhen and Ye Xuanning, Ye Jianying’s children;
Lu De, Lu Dingyi’s son;
Tao Siliang, Tao Zhu’s Daughter
and Ma Xiaoli, Ma Wenrui’s daughter.
Xi Qiaoqiao, Xi Jinping’s sister also
occasionally attends the forum.
They are all openly supporting Hu Jintao,
Wen Jiabao and Xi Jinping.

The report said that Ye Xuanning was the first
princeling to suggest the removal of Bo Xilai.
Princelings also supported redressing June 4 incident.

Those princelings belong to interests groups
in the CCP, so why do they hope for reform in China?

Xing Tianxing, a current affairs commentator, discusses this.

“Among the princelings, some have
seriously thought about history.
They know China is facing a crisis, and without
solving it, it means people will be forced into uprisings.
This result will be harmful to the economy
and to the state system.
For the princelings, no one wants to see
the country facing a huge disaster.
They hope that before the arrival of disaster,
they try their best to avoid it happening.
This is a natural way of thinking.”

In the Yanhuang Chunqiu forum, Lu De, son of Lu Dingyi,

former Minister of Propaganda, said that China’s fast
economic growth is ending.
He predicted that China’s economy will
collapse in 2017, and turmoil will take place.
He suggested that they should solve problems now that
are causing a delay in reforms. Now it is major conflict.

German media said that people are increasingly worried
about China’s economy, and are hoping for a soft landing.
Reports said they must carry out reform to achieve this,

as many problems relate to the current system,
as well as to it’s complex nepotism.

This year Wen Jiabao has repeatedly
stressed political reform.
Wang Yang, Secretary of Guangdong province,
has also made a bold push for reform.
He urged to give the power and rights to the people,
echoing Wen’s reform.
This has been called “North Wen, South Wang”.

Wang also planned to use Guangdong as a test city to
implement “declaration of cadres’ property”.
These bold words have also amazed the public.

Li Tianxiao, a current affairs commentator in the US said that
reform inside the CCP can’t solve the fundamental problem.
To carry out reform in reality means removal
and disintegration of the CCP.

Li Tianxiao: “This is because the CCP
has committed heinous crimes.
Now the situation is that the CCP must
be disintegrated, and is bound to collapse.
Under this circumstance, the CCP discussing
reform can bring people dreams.
This way it can help the CCP to get away
from its crisis of collapse.
It can control the discussions
by having the initiative. That’s their plan.
Reform itself has no way out.
There is no future for reform inside the CCP.”

Yang Jisheng, Deputy Director of Yanhuang Chunqiu
magazine said China is now at the edge of major changes.
People everywhere are complaining,
just waiting for someone to take the lead.
Yang said that compared with 1966, the corruption
among the ruling elite has worsened.
They have more privileges, and bribery
with power is spreading everywhere.
They have polluted society, and the peoples
tolerance has reached it’s limit.
