TinTin stars come to life on the red carpet.
Spielberg and Jackson’s “Tintin" looks to make it’s mark in Hollywood as the film has its Los Angeles premiere on Thursday night (November 10).
“There is a certain level you want to be working at when you are an actor and certain people you want to be working with and these two people I certainly consider to be at the top of the list. When you have that opportunity, it’s daunting and intimidating at the same time, but you just want to do the best job you can and not mess it up."
“Essentially, the characters are so well drawn, the characters are so well colorful that is the thing that propels the story on. It was having faith on the page and just bringing it to life as best we can.
“Now the technology is so advanced that you are able to enjoy the story in an environment with human performances and not be distracted by and really feel what they are feeling. This is really just a great action adventure story."
The red carpet was rolled out on Thursday night (November 09) for Steven Spielberg’s computer animated 3D adaptation of the Belgian comic book hero Tintin.
In “The Adventures of Tintin – The Secret of the Unicorn", Spielberg, who directed blockbusters including “Indiana Jones", “E.T." and “Jaws", aims to bridge the gap between the comics and the big screen by employing a technique similar to that deployed in James Cameron’s record-breaking “Avatar".
Spielberg employed the technical mastery of “Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson as producer for Tintin.
While neither of the Hollywood giants were able to attend the Hollywood premiere, actor Jamie Bell, who portrays Tintin in the film, talked about the opportunity of working with them.
“There is a certain level you want to be working at when you are an actor and certain people you want to be working with and these two people I certainly consider to be at the top of the list," said Bell. “When you have that opportunity, it’s daunting and intimidating at the same time, but you just want to do the best job you can and not mess it up."
During filming, actors had to adapt to acting in a studio wearing a special suit which registered his movements. The data was then transformed into a computer generated, three dimensional, image of his character.
Bell added that the technology helps add to an already strong story line.
“Now the technology is so advanced that you are able to enjoy the story in an environment with human performances and not be distracted by and really feel what they are feeling. This is really just a great action adventure story."
The movie also stars British actors Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
“The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn," which is already playing in Europe, will hit screens in the United States on December 21.
