Reporters Bribed for Proposal from CCP’s Meetings

CCP’s Congress and Political Consultative
meetings generate shocking news every year.
A reporter said in microblog that Liu Yonghao,
a Political Consultative member,
gave reporters “red envelopes” with money
at a press conference publicizing his proposals.
Later, he was asked to remove the post.
But voices of disappointment still came out.

Liu Yonghao, a corporate CEO, a super-rich
Political Consultative member, held a presser
to publicize his proposals for the “two meetings.”
Reporter Chen Yong exposed on Microblog that
Liu distributed red envelopes with money to reporters.

The post attracted wide media attention.
The presser organizer New Hope Group put out
seven posts on Microblog, saying the money was to
cover transportation cost.

Chen Yong said he faced much pressure
after exposing the “Red Envelope” incident.
New Hope asked to meet with him and
gave him a medical “oral hygiene applier.”

Chen wrote on Microblog: The Red Envelope incident
showed the rich CCP officials cannot be challenged.
They know your boss and have image-building PRs.
If you make trouble, they’ll make your life miserable;
they even give you “oral hygiene applier.”

Net users commented:
Liu Yonghao wants so much for Chen Yong to
“wash his mouth clean.”

The CCP imposed many limits to the reporting on
the two meetings, including topics on political reform,
“shocking proposals.” Reporters are required not to
mention that Athlete Liu Xiang didn’t have a proposal.

Some made subtle references on Microblog:
A “shocking” news was heard at the two meetings
in two days a leader will tie together law and politics
to build a harmonious society to last for 10,000 years;
certain ministers from the two meetings were chased
by reporters and embarrassed by the meetings’ reports.

Another blog post:
CCP’s meetings bring peak sale in luxuries, and
experienced salesperson know what fit for gifts:
price is high but the items should not stand out.

Someone posted a photo on Microblog on violence
in urban control during the CCP’s two meetings.
A blogger replied:
What use do the CCP’s meetings have?
How can society be harmonious and
people be dignified?

One high-school student wrote an article
detailing school’s excessive charge on fees.
Bloggers responded with pessimism:
Can the two meetings bring any changes to this?
Or were they simply empty meetings?
