Executed Xia Junfeng Never Surrendered.

On September 25, Xia Junfeng, a street vendor
from Shenyang was executed for manslaughter.
Although many netizens and lawyers urged to review the
case, four years passed, and they could save Xia’s life.
Zhang Jing, Xia’s wife spoke with NTD.

Xia never accepted his sentence, and
refused to sign the death certificate.
He told his wife that as long as one of his
family members are still alive, they must appeal.
He never agreed to the sentence.

At eight o’clock on the morning of September 25,
Xia met with his wife, Zhang Jing and six relatives.
Before Xia left for the execution, Zhang touched Xia’s
face through a fence, and placed Xia’s hands on her face.

That afternoon, Zhang received a phone
call from Shenyang Intermediate Court.
The court told Zhang that Xia
had been executed and cremated.
They asked Zhang to fetch the ash from the
crematorium at nine o’clock the next day.

Zhang Jing:"I still can’t calm down. When he was still
alive, I was full of hope, hoping the law will get better.
Now I am suddenly desperate and in
collapse. I find no hope in the system.
I thought there were so many netizens and lawyers trying
to help Xia, so maybe the country will gradually be better.
I had a little confidence, but now I won’t say
so. I don’t know what the future will hold."

Xia’s son, Xia Jianqiang knew his dad
had left him and his mother forever.

Zhang Jing:"My child saw the police coming to my
home. His nanny was crying and knelt down at the police.
The little child was frightened to death. On
the way to school, he was crying all the way."

Beijing activist Hu Jia was always concerned with Xia’s case.

Hu said that during Xia’s trial, the court did
not allow witnesses to be present in court.
Before Xia was executed, Xia told his family
members that a confession was taken under torture.

Hu Jia:"The police prepared a
confession and forced him to sign.
If he didn’t sign, he would be beaten. Isn’t this
a forced confession? Isn’t it a misjudgment?
The central regime needs to maintain 'stability',
and the local regime needs to shift responsibility.
If they don’t kill Xia Junfeng, many
responsible people in this case cannot sleep."

Looking back on Xia’s life, he lost his job after
the company he worked for became bankrupt.
In order to survive, Xia and
his wife did manual labor jobs.
Xia’s son has talented in painting,

They couldn’t afford for him to go to Beijing
to participate in a painting competition.
In 2008, Xia and his wife decided to sell grilled
meat skewers to raise money for their son.

Since then, they worked hard day and night.

Although it was difficult, they had saved almost
enough money for their son to go to Beijing.

However, on May 16, 2009, they clashed with
Shenhe District urban management officers.
Two officers were stabbed to
death, with one heavily injured.

In November 2013, Shenyang Intermediate court
convicted Xia for murder, and sentenced him to death.
On May 9, 2011, Liaoning Supreme Court
rejected an appeal, and upheld the original verdict.

Xia’s case sparked outcry in Mainland China.

Legal experts and the public widely questioned,
whether Xia’s case was manslaughter or self-defense.

Hu Jia:"Take that case of Xi Junfeng. When his
money was seized, he never used violence to resist.
When he was taken to a city
officers office, he suddenly resisted.
Being a low citizen in China, how could he react like that?"

Xia Junfeng was sentenced to death in a second trial,
provoking public condemnation for the unjust verdict.
“Xia Jianqiang’s paintings"
(Xia’s son) was widely reposted online.

In July 2013, an album of “Xia Jianqiang’s paintings"
was published by Jinlin Fine Arts Publishing House.
Zhang Jing wrote a preface for the album:
“I hope the album becomes my child’s haven.
To protect him to grow up properly, and
see more a positive and bright side in life."

Netizens said that they are sad to see the
paintings. They wanted to cry, and felt pain.

Xia’s life ended like this, but Xia’s case made
people think, and more people have awakened.

Lawyer Teng Biao tweeted:"The law murders
people, and the blood-debt continues to build.
Executioners please continue to read the Nuremberg trials."

Teng told Deutsche Welle that the CCP
believes the death penalty can deter people.
This dictatorship needs execution as it’s companion.
