“Ridiculous Motions” on Two Meetings Become Laughing Stocks

Representatives’ have been the focal point of
the CCP’s annual “Two Meetings”.
This year, some “ridiculous motions” have been
circulated online even before the Two Meetings end.
Analysts commented, the Two Meetings’ sole value
to Chinese folks is probably being laughing stocks.

Two Meetings (aka “feast of the powerful”) are
in full swing, but the public have lost their faith
in the motions to improve their welfare.
Instead, their only means of participation is to
excavate the meetings’ “ridiculous motions” for fun.

The most “ridiculous motions” in 2011
collected by netizens include:

Wang Ping, director of Chinese Ethnic Museum:
“Rural children should not be encouraged
to go to college.”

Ma Weihua, president of China Merchants Bank:
“Housing prices soar because
there is too much money in people’s hands.”

Shen Wen, Party secretary of Shanghai Zijiang Group:
“Raising the poverty line embodies the government’s
realistic attitude and humanitarianism,
which will make us look good.”

Li Danyang, an art and entertainment professional:
“It is imperative to strengthen micro-blog management!”

Li Shufu, president of Geely Automobiles in Zhejiang:
“Enterprises must obey the Party;
motions must follow Central Government’s policies.”

Beijing-based writer Zhang Yaojie:
We are like watching a drama.
We expose the reps’ remarks on the micro-blogs,
using them as negative examples for laughter.

Netizens believe, the motions at the Two Meetings
are different from the public expectation,
neither do they reflect the public demand.
So the common folks don’t care about them at all.

Zhuan Daohe, a law professional in Zhejiang Univ.:
A bunch of un-elected, government-appointed reps
are entertaining themselves behind closed doors.
They are just performing a political show,
for a little while.

Hong Kong’s Ming Pao reported that
these ridiculous motions had become laughing stocks.

Current affairs commentator Heng He said,
the meetings’ entertainment use may be
their only value. The CCP spent a lot of
taxpayers’ money on the meetings. The CCP regime,
the reps, police and security bureaus
have all benefited tremendously from this.

Heng He: Taxpayers didn’t get anything.
They are even arrested, detained and beaten.
As people pay for the meetings’ cost,
why couldn’t they take them as a joke and make fun?
In fact, the officials take the meetings as a joke, too.
An idiot like Mao Xinyu, Mao’s grandson, was made
a lieutenant general and a representative.
Isn’t it a joke?
