Primary School Students Forced to Salute the Communist Party Flag

Beijing authorities decided to honor CCP’s flags
at primary schools from Feb. 21 to October 2011.
The Communist Young Pioneers should salute
the flag with CCP’s emblem: Hammer and Sickle.
China’s netizens believe this is to brainwash the kids,
and instill the idea that CCP and the country
are the same.
It is actually a crime to pervert children’s mind.

School started on Feb. 21 in Beijing.
In the flag-raising ceremony, students found
CCP’s flag was raised along with the national flag,
so all staff and students were forced to salute CCP flag.

Director of Beijing Youth League Municipal Committee
told Beijing Times newspaper,
2011 is the 90th anniversary of CCP’s founding.
The ceremony is to foster students’ love for the Party.

Former associate professor of Beijing University
Jiao Guobiao thinks the authorities are shameless.

Jiao: “Why do students have to worship violence?
In the future, the violent students would use hammers
and sickles to hit and cut the party members heads off.
The Party will see this day coming.
They should have educated the students to love others,
instead of killing people with hammers and sickles.

“Primary school students to salute the Party flag”
has stirred up heated discussions on the Internet.
There are tens of thousands of posts on that subject
on NetEase.com and Sohu.com.

Some netizens say: Beijing City’s government is sick.
What era are we in and they are still doing that?
How can you cover everything up with a flag?

Some said, “We know we should love our country,
but we’ve never heard of loving some kind of Party.”

“The kids are forced to show loyalty to the Party.
What does it mean? That’s outrageous. ”

Editor-in-chief of Chinese Lawyers Observation,
Zhao Guojun, said, it violates citizens’
freedom of belief and freedom of assembly.

Zhao: To salute the Chinese Communist Party’s flag?
What about the Social Democratic Party?
What about other political parties in China?
What about people who don’t believe in the CCP?
Not believing in CCP shouldn’t be a death penalty.
Now they are interfering with the freedom of belief
and freedom of assembly for the Party’s interes

Chinese current affairs commentator Song Shinan said
on Twitter that to have students salute the Party flag
is a blank statement that the Party is the country,
and the country is the Party.
To promote the Party through flag-raising ceremony
is a sign of unified authority of the party, state,
and religion.
And they are targeting the children.

Zhao: the CCP never conceals its unified system of
the party and the state, and the Party is above the state.
China’s Constitution states that the Party operates
outside the constitution and the legal system. Yet,
CCP always turns its will and decisions into policies
and emphasizes that the Party is the first priority.

In Oct 2010, a school in Nanjing forbade students to
watch Hunan Satellite TV, but suggested CCTV.
This practice was severely criticized by netizens.
They said, we were a generation poisoned by CCTV
and the Party’s brainwash.
Let’s not harm the younger generations.

There is a funny essay of a pupil posted online.
Netizens say that pupils write in such a style,
because they have watched too much CCTV:
Deputy Class Monitor Zhang Liaoliao, accompanied
by the class’s sports and cultural commissioners
to conduct a visit to a class member who caught a cold.
They brought him holiday greetings and good wishes.

Zhao: It’s outrageous that they are using the state machine
and the education system to brainwash the youngsters.
It is actually a crime to the future generations.
The harm could be lethal. It is to distort one’s belief,
and to foster political hypocrisy.
It is harmful to the development of one’s personality.

China’s Propaganda Bureau-controlled Wenming.cn
reported on Feb. 18, on the 1st day of a new semester,
kindergarten kids in Hefei were taught about
CCP’s flag. And a news article is titled “The Brilliance
of the Party Flag Illuminates Children’s Hearts.”
