Chinese Media Publicly Made a Fool of Jiang Zemin

Chinese media recently published many negative reports on
former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin.
Jiang has also become a popular figure in kuso
images within Chinese social networks.
Many cartoon images related to Jiang are circulating
among Chinese netizens.

Three posters were posted on Webio by the Mountaineering
Association of Fudan University on Jan.31,
The official Weibo of Xiamen Metropolitan News, posted
the images on Jan.25 and Jan.29.

The slogans read: “Nobody Knows How High It Is";
“Faster Than Anyone Else"; and, “A Little Life Experience".
In the middle of the third poster is a pair of black glasses,
which look very similar those worn by Jiang.

Netizens believe the poster is a high-profile spoof of Jiang.

One image from Xiamen Metropolitan News shows a cat
wearing black glasses, and another image shows a cartoon
figure with Jiang Zemin’s face, also wearing Jiang’s
recognizable black glasses.
The third image is a calligraphy work in Chinese, which is a
comical phonetic translation of Jiang’s famous “Too Young,
Too Simple" comment when he was irritated by
Hong Kong reporters.
Any Chinese can understand straight away that
these images are making a fool of Jiang.

Since the New Year, people have seen negative reports
about Jiang Zemin’s family members and his followers.
Foreign media widely speculate that Jiang is the next target
of Xi Jinping’s “tiger hunt" campaign.
Chinese media are now making a public joke about Jiang,
which was rarely seen before.
This further makes people believe Jiang is in
a hopeless situation now.

Ko’s “Two Countries, One System" Speech Shows Opposing
Attitudes From Chinese Citizens And The Communist Regime

Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je recently presented the concept of
“Two Countries, One System" in an interview with Foreign
Policy magazine. This has become a controversial topic in
Taiwan, as well as in mainland China.
However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Chinese
people have completely opposite attitudes toward Ko’s words.

A Radio Free Asia report quoted Chinese dissidents who
support Ko’s “Two Countries, One System".

Those people said, Ko’s “One System" refers to a framework
seeking democracy, freedom, human rights and fairness.
If both sides of the strait can achieve such a “one system",
it is definitely better than the CCP’s dictatorship regime.

The dissidents commented that, Hong Kong’s story tells the
world that under the CCP’s one-party dictatorship, “one
country" will finally dominate the “two systems". The so-
called “reunification" will become “reign".
So, mainland China should only talk about “reunification"
with Taiwan after turning into a democratic government.

But on Feb 2. the CCP mouthpiece Global Times criticized
Ko stating “Ko Wen-je must have gone a little mad."
The magazine claimed that the “cross-strait forum"
between Shanghai and Taipei should be stopped
following Ko’s speeches, and further suggested the
CCP boycott the 2017 Taipei Universiade.

From Xu Youyu

The Tiananmen Mothers is a democracy organization set up
by relatives of victims during the June Fourth massacre.
The group announced on Feb.1 that they decided to accept
the donation of Olof Palme Human Rights Prize money from

of Xu’s help.

Xu Youyu is a retired professor of philosophy at the Chinese
Academy of Social Sciences.
On Dec.16 2014, Xu was awarded Sweden’s prestigious
Human Rights Olof Palme Prize.

Xu Youyu donated all the $75,000 prize (450,000 Yuan) to
the Tiananmen Mothers, shortly after he was freed on bail.
Xu asked the organization to use the money to help those
June Fourth victims’ families who are in financial difficulties.
