Lu Xueqin Illegally Detained For 270 Days; In Life Threatening Situation

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities recently conducted another round of severe persecution of Tibetans, Uighurs and Falun Gong practitioners. Even officially registered Christian churches all over China have been harassed. Lu Xueqin, a Qingdao Falun Gong practitioner, was kidnapped by Qingdao police on May 2, 2013 for exposing the CCP torture. She has been illegally detained since then. According to her husband, Yan Zhenlin, Lu Xueqin is in poor health.
Lu Xueqin’s lawyer fought for her bail, but the Qingdao police refused to release her.

On May 2 of last year, at the behest of the Qingdao Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 office, Qingdao police abducted Falun Gong practitioners Lu Xueqin, Yuan Shaohua, Yang Naijian and his mother Liu Xiuzhen. As of now, Lu Xueqin has been illegally detained for more than nine months. Many of her prior illnesses have reoccurred, and she is dying.

Yan Zhenlin (Lu Xueqin’s husband): “On Feb. 19, the lawyer planned to meet with my wife, but the detention center rejected the request. The lawyer wondered whether my wife is dying. Luckily, my wife kept saying, ‘I want to see a lawyer.’ Finally, a man from the detention center carried her to meet with the lawyer. My wife was unable to stand up.”

Lu Xueqin’s husband is worried about her health. She is detained in a place where others cannot see what goes onand she cannot afford to be tortured.

On Feb. 19, two of Lu Xueqin’s lawyers submitted a legal opinion and a letter of complaint to Wang Ge, the Judge of the Qingdao Northern District Court. They requested an acquittal for Lu Xueqin as soon as possible. Lu Xueqin’s husband submitted the bail application to Wang Ge. He also called the police hotline to convey his wife’s physical condition and ask for help.

Yan Zhenlin: “After the meeting on the morning of Feb. 19, I submitted the bail application in the afternoon. I want her to come out to see a doctor. However, I was told that her health condition is not bad enough for bail.”

On the same day, lawyers and families submitted the above information to Yang Xiaoying, the Prosecutor of the Qingdao Northern District Procuratorate. At first, Yang Xiaoying agreed to take the material. But then she said via a phone conversation, “According to my boss, I am not allowed to accept it.” She excused herself from meeting with the lawyers and families.

NTD TV reporter: “Falun Gong practitioners became seriously ill when they were detained in the detention center, but were denied medical parole. Do you think this is in line with legal requirements?”

Tang Jitian, a lawyer in China: “Certainly it is not right. Even in accordance with fair laws, it was only the crime itself and the act itself. Of course the other rights of people should not be deprived.”

Lu Xueqin is 52 years old now. She suffered from various diseases. At the end of 1996, she began to practice Falun Dafa. Since then, her health condition improved dramatically. However, due to the CCP‘s persecution, she suffered illegal detention several times.

When she returned home, she and her friends simulated the torture they suffered in the detention center in photographs. They uploaded the photos to overseas websites to allow the public to become aware. Because of this, they were arrested again.

Yan Zhenlin: “She was arrested at a friend’s home and was later put in jail. During the 10 months since May 3, we appealed the case everywhere. The photos they took did not violate any law. She simply exposed the persecution to the society. They are innocent.”

In fact, Falun Gong practitioners are not the only group who suffer such unlawful treatment in China.

In mid-November of last year, Zhang Shaojie, an official-approved Christian pastor in Henan, was detained along with other church members. The CCP authorities have not provided any reason thus far. It is understood that Zhang Shaojie planned to protect the ownership of the church’s land. However, he was charged with “gathering a crowd to disrupt public order” and “fraud.” Parish members say that this case is due to local officials attempting to seize the church’s land for development.

According to China Aid News, a house church staff member in Sichuan Province wanted to apply for a Christmas party. He informed the police. However, he was still detained on the night of last Dec. 24. He appealed several times, but the authorities refused to re-consider.

At the end of November last year, Wang Zuoan, the head of the CCP Religious Affairs Bureau, claimed in a speech that the authorities will be tolerant towards religious activities. His words are still ringing in our ears, but cases of persecution are frequent occurrences just the same.
