State media praises Mao Zedong; Hardliners making shots at Xi Jinping?

Recently, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has
tightened control of freedom of expression.
The ideological direction seems to “veer left”.

On June 6, Hunan Daily newspaper said that
provincial secretary Xu Shousheng went to Shaoshan,
Hunan Province, to inspect preparations
for Mao Zedong’s 120th birthday celebration.
This move seems to show a high-profile celebration of
Mao’s birthday.
Analysts say that Mao wasn’t a person who followed
the rule of law, which goes against Xi Jinping’s constitutional system ideology.
Thus, the CCP leftist’s recent behavior are likely signs of
Jiang Zemin’s faction trying to counterattack Xi Jinping.

On June 5, Xu Shousheng made a special trip to Shaoshan.

Xu said that the central government highly values
commemorating Mao’s 120th birthday.

Liu Yinquan, Chairman of the Social Democratic Party
of China in the US: “We know Mao brought disaster to China.
Mao’s biggest mistake is to engage in class struggle
instead of production.
Daily, people struggled each other and persecuted each other.

Mao sought to ‘smash’ people’s beliefs in Buddha and God,
and replace them with materialism.
Now in China, some people are inciting a return to the Mao era.
Those people constantly try to influence public opinions and
fabricate rumors. They intended to pull the public to go backwards.”

Hu Fayun, a writer from Wuhan, says that besides the CCP
using Mao as a spiritual support, Mao’s theory isn’t actually
conducive to the government leaders.

Hu Fayun: “Those who reminisce and affirm Mao, aren’t they
also affirming Mao’s self-praise in the Cultural Revolution?
The Cultural Revolution was to overthrow the capitalists,
create class struggle and carry out proletarian dictatorship to the end.
Nowadays, however, who are you overthrowing?
How are you advancing a dictatorship of the proletarian?
Who is dictatorship of the proletarian, who is the capitalist?
These important issues can’t be missed out.”

In addition, Hunan provincial secretary, Xu Shousheng also
requested to combine activities to commemorate Mao with
Xi Jinping’s “China Dream” education together.

In December, 2012, at a meeting to commemorate the 30th
anniversary of the current Constitution’s declaration,
Xi Jinping stressed that the essence of the Constitution
is implementing it. The authoritativeness of the Constitution
also depends on implementation.”

In May this year, university professors were told to obey the
“Seven Don’t Mentions,” which discourage universal values.
Then the CCP regime issued its “Report on the Current Status
in the Area of Ideology”; and its “Sixteen Recommendations.”
Recently, state-owned media have published articles saying
the “constitutional system” should be removed.
It triggered debates between supporters of
constitutional system and their opponents.
China’s state-owned media reports conflict with Xi’s remarks,
bringing worries to the outside world.

Zhao Yuanming, a former senior law expert at
China People’s Public Security University, says
the Chinese regime has never followed the rule
of law since Mao Zedong.

Zhao Yuanming: “I think this phenomenon is Jiang Zemin
faction’s making a counterattack to Xi Jinping’s China Dream.
They chose the opportunity while Xi is visiting abroad.

Then they began to promote Maoist thought again and
to attack Xi’s constitutional system.”

A netizen in Sichuan posted article in a forum saying that
in the Maoist era, countless people starved to death,
countless skilled people were persecuted,
and countless died of violence.

Netizens say that today in China,
some people commemorate Mao,
but Mao never sent apologies for his mistakes to the Chinese.
The CCP has never said sorry for all those who died unnaturally.

The recently reprinted book, “Tyrants,” lists “history’s
100 most evil despots & dictators,” Mao is one of them.
In the book, the author introduces that
Mao’s evil autocracy mainly started after 1949.
Mao killed 3 million so-called “counter revolutionaries”, forcibly
implemented agricultural co-operatives resulting in famine, and
casually used arrest and forced labor during the “anti-rightists.”

After the failure of “Great Leap Forward,”
several millions of people starved to death.
And through the Cultural Revolution,
Mao dragged the nation into utter disasters.
