Two reporters refuse to sign “Masanjia" findings

Two reporters from People’s Network were invited to join
the Masanjia investigation team in Liaoning Province.
They have refused to sign the findings.

Was the Lens magazine article, “Walking out of Masanjia,”
from early April factual?
Officials disagree with victims of Masanjia.

Now, the two reporters have refused to stand together
with officials, so the Masanjia issue has attracted more attention.

On the evening of April 22nd, Luo Changping,
the mainland Finance magazine deputy editor-in-chief,
paid tribute to these two reporters on his blog.

They have refused to sign the conclusion of the report,
due to serious inaccuracies.

On April 7th, Lens magazine exposed Masanjia’s tortures,
such as squatting, hanging, tiger bench, deathbed, and mutilation.
Liaoning authorities set up a Masanjia issue investigation
team under boiling public opinion.
Yet, Zhang Chaoying, deputy director of the investigating
team, was the former director of Masnajia Forced Labor Camp.
Ma Xiaoming, former Shaanxi TV reporter said,

when he saw Masanjia investigation team members were sent
by Liaoning authorities, he already knew the predictable findings.

Ma Xiaoming: “You ask criminals to investigate
their own crimes, what should the results be?
I was there and knew all the guards.
They were taking orders and doing a good job.
I have seen those torture methods in the labor camp.”

Ma Xiaoming points out that tortures of Masanjia
are crimes against humanity.
They not only damage people’s beliefs but also damage
people physically and mentally.

Ma Xiaoming: “An investigation team must be independent,
consisting members of authorities from all walks of life and victims of Masanjia.
When necessary, it should be investigated by international
human rights organizations.”

Ma Xiaoming believes that the two reporters
from People’s Network do not represent People’s Network.
They have a conscience and acted on behalf
of their personal stance.

Ma Xiaoming: “I don’t know where People’s Network stands.

But these two reporters refused to sign the findings,
and that told us something.
They not only have experience but also have courage
and basic professional ethics.
It is not easy to run into reporters like them.

Nowadays, most of the media people have been bought
by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”

Zhu Xinxin, former editor of Hebei People’s Radio, said that
people are now awakening, and they do not want to be in cahoots with the evil CCP.
These two reporters have refused to sign,
and are worthy of our recognition and praise.

Zhu Xinxin: “Many, many journalists rather stand up
and refuse to sign, at a great risk of losing their jobs or being persecuted.
This proves that the younger generation of
Chinese media people are promising.
Not all of the media people can be easily bought
or controlled.”

Li Wenjuan, former IRS civil servant of Liaoning Province
and also a victim of Masanjia:
“What ‘Walking out of Masanjia’ exposed is only
the tip of the iceberg.

Meanwhile, reports about Masanjia on all major mainland
websites have been deleted as fast as they appear.
A secret order of the Central Propaganda Department says
don’t report, forward or evaluate any reports regarding Masanjia.

On April 19th, reports from the CCP’s mouthpiece, Xinhua Net,
as well as Law and Politics Committee’s Legal Daily,
claimed that “Walking out of Masanjia”
was a serious misrepresentation.
The reports also said that after years of transforming
Falun Gong practitioners, Masanjia was attacked
by Falun Gong organizations and foreign hostile forces
at home and abroad, and that Lens magazine used the Falun Gong media language in their article.

Liaoning petitioners Zhu Guiqin’s personal experience
was featured in the article, “Walking out of Masanjia.”
Zhu told NTD that victims in the article were all summoned
by the Liaoning Provincial Public Security Bureau.
They wanted to know how the inside stories
were leaked to the magazine.
Police attempted to obtain evidence to the contrary
in order to overthrow victims’ accusations.
