Yang Jisheng: People are forced into suffering by the Totalitarian wart

Yanhuang Chunqiu is a magazine based in Beijing with
a focus on contemporary Chinese history and liberalism.
On the afternoon of Dec. 18, deputy director of the magazine,
Yang Jisheng, hosted a speech at The Chinese University
of Hong Kong.

He indicated that the Cultural Revolution has proved the path,
theories and systems in today’s China are entirely wrong.
To talitarianism is society’s wart, and the masses
continue to swallow the bitter fruit of autocracy.

In his speech entitled, “Path, Theory, System – My reflection
on the Cultural Revolution," Yang Jisheng conducted
a detailed analysis and discussion of the cause and effect
of the 10-year Cultural Revolution.

Yang Jisheng, deputy director of Yanhuang Chunqiu
magazine:
“S ummarizing issues of the Cultural Revolution
must start by looking at the system, ideology
and path that had been insisted upon for more
than a decade prior to the Cultural Revolution.
It is relatively superficial to simply discuss power struggles.

Of course, Mao Zedong bears the responsibility
for the Cultural Revolution, but simply stating his personal
responsibility is also superficial."

Yang Jisheng noted that Mao Zedong established China’s
totalitarianism for his utopian idea.
This totalitarianism has become a wart of the society.
Accompanying the wart is the massive bureaucracy.
Mao’s path has created a living hell in China through
the great Famine and the Cultural Revolution.

Hu Ping, Beijing Spring magazine editor: “This collectivism
has brought a profound scourge to people and thus
the people today are disgusted.
The Chinese have been suffering the most."

The book of Historical Political Movements, edited by
The Party History Research Office of the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP), revealed figures associated with
the Cultural Revolution.
The figures state at least 4.2 million people were detained,
1.72 million people died of unnatural causes, 135,000 people
were executed on “active counter-revolutionary” charges
and more than 237,000 died in armed fights.
7.03 million people were wounded,
and 71,200 families perished.
According to local governmental records, at least 7.73 million
Chinese died of unnatural causes in the Cultural Revolution.

Hu Ping: “Marx and the Communist Party vowed to eliminate
private ownership.
It has brought a catastrophe to the Chinese society
for all these years.
In addition, endless political persecution has resulted from
Marx’s class struggle and the dictatorship of the proletariat."

Beijing Spring magazine editor Hu Ping says that
Communism insists on a thorough breakage with traditional
culture and thus the CCP has conducted the most
unprecedented, profound and cruel destruction of ancient
cultures throughout Chinese history.

According to the book entitled, “Nine Commentaries
on the Communist Party,” “The communist movement,
which has made a big fanfare for over a century, has brought
mankind only war, poverty, brutality, and dictatorship.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern
European communist parties, this disastrous and outrageous
drama finally entered its last stage by the end
of the last century.
No one, from the ordinary citizens to the General Secretary
of the Communist Party, believes in the myth of communism
anymore.”

“The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is unwilling to leave
the historical stage in accordance with the currents of history.
Instead, it is using the ruthless methods developed during
decades of political campaigns to renew its crazed struggle
for legitimacy and revive its dead mandate.” states the book.

Yang Jisheng said, “The officials have manipulated their
political power to neglect the responsibility to both Mao
and the totalitarianism for of the Cultural Revolution.

The bureaucracy has not changed, and the masses continue
to swallow the bitter fruit of autocracy.

Hu Ping: “The Chinese continue to suffer from this disaster.

This is the major issue we are facing today,
to be completely free of this disaster."

The Nine Commentaries also said, “To eliminate from
our lives
the iniquitous doctrines instilled by the CCP,
to discern the CCP’s utterly unscrupulous nature,
and to restore our human nature and conscience—
this is the first and essential step on the path toward a smooth
transition to a society free from the Communist Party.”

“Even though the CCP appears to possess all the resources
and violent apparatus in the country, if every citizen believes
in the power of the truth and safeguards morality,
the evil specter of the CCP will lose the foundation
for its existence.”

“Only without the Chinese Communist Party,
will there be a new China,” “does China have hope,”
and “the upright and kindhearted Chinese people will
rebuild China’s historical magnificence.”
