A Farmer Cannot Afford Medical Fees Associated with Leg Amputation

The Russian government recently announced
a free healthcare policy in their country.
However, in China, shocking news circulated online.

A Hebei farmer suffered from double leg ulceration,
and one leg needed to be amputated.
He couldn’t afford to pay the surgery fees.
Thus he has to cut one leg off by himself.
Netizens said that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
is a tyranny, creating such a brave, tough guy.

Zheng Yanliang lives in Dongzangcun,
Qingyuan Township, Hebei.
On Oct. 11, he told NTD that he cut his right leg off
by himself in April 2012.
Now his left leg ulceration is constantly expanding upward.

Zheng Yanliang: “My left leg ulceration was 15cm away
from my knee, above my ankle area only had bone left."

He couldn’t seek hospital treatment, as he couldn’t afford it.

Zheng Yanliang: “I can’t go, it will cost me
tens of thousands of yuan.
There is no support from the regime."

He told NTD that there is a medical allowance, but he must
pay the medical fees first, and be reimbursed in the future.

Zheng Yanliang: “If I don’t live in the hospital,
the regime won’t reimburse the cost.
They won’t pay any medicine fees for me.
We have to buy the medicines.
There is minimum medical allowance, but we need
to pay first.
After all hospital treatment, I can apply to be reimbursed.
We must pay first."

On Jan. 28, 2012, the sixth day of the Chinese New Year,
Zheng began suffering pain from his legs to his buttocks,
and soon he couldn’t walk.

Beijing doctors finally diagnosed him with double
lower extremity peripheral arterial disease.
The doctors advised him to stay in the hospital for surgery.

However, he would have needed to pay several tens
of thousands of yuan in medical bills for the amputation
and treatment.

Zheng chose to go home.
Zheng felt he was dying.

Within three months, Zheng began to suffer from severe pain
and he often lost consciousness.
On April 14, 2012, Zheng’s right leg badly festered
and the bone was exposed.
He thought about cutting the leg off himself.

At 11am, Zheng found a small knife and jigsaw.
He wrapped a towel on a stick and put it into his mouth.
He operated inside his bedroom.

It took him about 15 minutes to cut off his right leg.
He broke four teeth biting the towel.
After all that, Zheng wrapped his leg.

Zheng Yanliang: “I used cotton wool and disinfectant
to clean it, then wrapped it with a thick gauze.
The wounds have healed after over a month.

Before it healed, the red flesh could be seen.
It seems to have healed very well, there is no infection."

Mainland media reported that a doctor in Shijiazhuang said
Zheng cut off the dead part of his right leg,
so there was little bleeding.

However, the wounds surface is not smooth,
and it is difficult for it to heal.
There is a risk of infection to the bone.

Sources said that after media reported Zheng’s story,
two hospitals voluntarily provided free treatment for Zheng.
Zheng’s local regime said they will arrange for Zheng
to have medical checks at Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University.

Zheng told NTD that the hospital will soon send doctors
to see him at home.
Whether it is a free treatment, he can’t confirm yet.

Hubei writer Ruan Yunhua said Zheng’s suffering
is a great irony to the CCP’s social system.

Ruan Yunhua: “China is a socialist country, but as a civilian,
they can’t enjoy what are called ‘socialist advantages.’
They can’t enjoy the ‘well-being’ of economic development.

On the contrary, civilians have fears
that there is no protection.
They dare not spend money, and would rather cut off a leg
by one self.
It is obviously a great irony to the CCP system."

Sources said that the Russian government
announced free healthcare.
Their citizens can permanently enjoy free medical care.

On Oct. 10, China’s Central TV commented
on Russia’s free healthcare issue.
It said that free healthcare is a deceptive policy,
There is no free medical care in the world.

Ruan Yunhua says that the CCP pushes education, healthcare
and real estate aspects into the market,
and civilians’ social security gets worse.

Russia announced its free healthcare policy,
overwhelming the CCP.
Thus they shirked its responsibility,
saying that there is no free lunch on earth.
