Zhao Ziyang´s Son: To Cover Up History Is Shameful to the Country

With the approaching 25th anniversary of the June 4
Tiananmen Square Student Protest, Zhao Wujun,
youngest son of former Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
leader Zhao Ziyang, spoke to the media about
the massacre and his late father´s life.

He said that the regime avoids talking about Zhao´s
mistreatment, and by doing so, more shame is brought
to the country.

Some scholars say that it is impossible for the regime
to voluntarily redress the June 4 massacre.

25 years ago, Zhao Ziyang was purged by senior CCP leaders
due to his stance against the military´s suppression
of the student protests.

He was placed under house arrest and passed away in 2005.

Zhao´s youngest son Zhao Wujun told Hong Kong media
that his father never regretted the decision to insist on not
killing the students.

According to Zhao Ziyang´s audio recordings, in 1989
Deng Xiaoping gave the final order to fire guns at students.

Zhao Wujun says that it was impossible for his father to agree
with Deng on how to resolve the student protest issue
because their moral bottom lines were different.

If the CCP continues to ban the expression of Zhao Ziyang,
it only brings more shame to the country.

Hu Jia, Beijing human rights activist: “The June 4 Incident
proves that the CCP is an illegal regime.
Actually it is like a fascist regime, using tanks to run over
its own citizens, and using expanding bullets that have
been banned in war.

Overseas media became historical witnesses, including
mainstream media in Hong Kong, Macao, Europe,
and the US.

The CCP cannot erase its history.

However, the CCP attempted to conceal history from
young generations born after the 1980s.
Because the CCP is scared that it has sinned massively,
its only is to send apologies and resign.”

The expanding bullet, also known as a “dum dum” bullet,
is designed to expand on impact, causing a larger wound.
According to the Hague Convention of 1899, the dum dum
is prohibited in warfare due to its inhumane excessiveness.

Zhao Ziyang´s son-in-law Wang Zhihua told
Voice of America that re-evaluation of the June 4 Incident
is the historical mission for current leaders.

Yu Meisun, former CCP Secretary of State Council,
says that re-evaluation of the June 4 Incident
is very important to the family of victims,
and very important to the country.

One of the June 4 Incident organizers, Wu Renhua,
former assistant researcher at China University
of Political Science and Law, believes that it is impossible
for the Chinese regime to re-evaluated the June 4 Incident.

Wu Renhua: “The CCP is scared that if it re-evaluates
and made a concession, its power will collapse.
Since 1949 the CCP took over power, it committed many
crimes, not only on the issue of the June 4 Incident,
on many issues.

If they lift the ban, people would have the right to request
lifting the ban on other man-made political
and catastrophic issues.

So the CCP would not voluntarily make a fair
and new evaluation of the June 4 Incident.”

Sources say that this year, Tiananmen Mothers
were monitored more strictly than ever before.

Member of Tiananmen Mother You Weijie who took over
the frontline work this year spoke to media.
She revealed that every related person was monitored.

The founder of Tiananmen Mothers, Ding Zilin,
and her husband were forced to stay in Jiangsu Province.
The commemorative events held over the past years
were banned this year.
Even the open letter written annually
couldn´t be published this year.

Hu Jia, who is currently imprisoned at home, says that
organizing the 25th anniversary of June 4 Incident
is being responsible for history.

Hu is a co-founder of the Back to Tiananmen campaign.

He calls on people to wear black clothing on June 4,
and if people are in Beijing on June 4, they may go to the site
where the massacre took place or return to Tiananmen
Square, take a picture and upload it online.

Several overseas democratic and human rights organizations,
including Beijing Spring and Initiatives for China, launched
a global online conference to commemorate June 4.

The conference will be held for six hours
from 8am to 2pm on May 31.
They call on the Mainland Chinese people to join
the conference via QQ, Weixin or other social networks.

Hu Jia: “The June 4 students made many demands
for political reforms: to disclose CCP officials´ income,
to request democratic freedom, and to fight corruption.

The commemoration of June 4 is particularly to let young
people know, via Weibo, Twitter or Weixin,
what happened 25 years ago.

Now the social contradictions are very extreme,
we should tell civilians that the contradictions actually
existed a long time ago.”

Hu Jia points out that the 25 years has proved what
disasters the CCP has brought into China.
The requests June 4 raised 25 years ago
still haven´t been resolved.
For example, the New Citizens Movement (NCM) request
for the CCP officials to disclose assets was completely
suppressed by the CCP.

Several members of NCM, including legal scholar
Xu Zhiyong, were sent to jail illegally.
