美國《華爾街日報》報導，雲南昆明砍人血案發生後的幾個星期內，所有29名遇難者的家屬，都接受了當地政府提供的30萬元人民幣的賠償金。但是，家屬認為賠償金少於其他致命事件的賠償金額。
而且，當地政府在與家屬簽訂協議的過程中，所使用的手段，也令家屬不滿。一名河南遇難者家屬表示，每次與當地官員的談話對他都是一次傷害。另一位家在哈爾濱的遇難者家屬說，雲南的官員們表示，如果他們接受賠償，就答應滿足一系列要求，包括一處墓地、補貼性公共住房以及社保等等。但是他們在接受賠償並返回哈爾濱之後，發現當地官員並不願意
馬航乘客家屬赴吉隆坡討說法
同樣是失去親人的約30位馬航失聯飛機中國乘客家屬，則於3月30號前往吉隆坡，向馬來西亞政府討說法。他們打出「要證據，要真相，要尊嚴」，和「交出劊子手，坦白真相，還我親人」的標語，指責馬來西亞政府隱瞞信息，要求大馬政府道歉。
英國廣播公司《BBC》中文網刊登分析文章質疑說，同樣的災難如果發生在中國，家屬能提出同樣的要求嗎？如果向中共政府打出這樣的標語，又會有怎樣的後果？
黑龍江建三江黑監獄事件，連續一個多星期，持續引發外界關注，在建三江警方不斷暴力抓捕聲援者後，各地律師和公民依然不斷前往當地。
3月31號，由49位律師、公民、學者共同聯署發起的《致公安部的公開信》，在網上發表。
公開信批評建三江公安對四律師採取拘押行為，譴責建三江警方對聲援人士採取的暴力手段，是野蠻踐踏法律，更是對法治極大的醜化。
公開信要求公安部立即制止建三江農墾區警方的非法行徑，保障律師的會見權利，派員徹查建三江黑監獄內幕，並嚴懲私設黑監獄、刑訊律師的領導人員和直接責任人員。

Bereaved Families in Kunming Knife Rampage Unhappy
With the Compensation.
In the weeks since the March 1 knife rampage, the families of
all 29 people killed have accepted the 300,000 yuan ($48,000)
compensation payment from the local government.
But the families believe the compensation is lower
than for other fatal incidents.
The families are also unhappy with how the local government
behaved during the process of signing the agreements.
One Henan family member said each conversation with local
officials wounded him all over again.
Another family member living in Harbin said if they accepted
the payment, Yunnan officials agreed to help with a series of
requests—a cemetery plot, subsidized public housing, social
security payments and other apparent benefits.
Once back in Harbin after accepting the money, the family
found local officials unwilling to fully honour the agreement.
Now, nobody will respond to them.
Malaysia Airlines Lost Passengers’ Families
Demanded Answers in Kuala Lumpur
The 30 bereaved families went to Kuala Lumpur to seek an
explanation from the Malaysian government.
They held up banners with: “We want evidence, truth, dignity"
and “Hand us the murderer. Give us our relatives" blaming
the Malaysian government for hiding the information and
demanding an apology.
The BBC Chinese website published an article which analyzed
whether the passengers’ families can make the same request if
this disaster happened in China?
What would the consequences be if they play the same slogans
to the Chinese government?
Jiansanjiang Authorities’ Violation of the Law is Challenged
by 49 Supporting Citizens
The Heilongjiang Jiansanjiang black jail event has continued
to attract attention for more than one week.
The lawyers and citizens continue to go to Jiansanjiang after
the Jiansanjiang police violently arrested people.
On March 31, 49 people including lawyers, citizens and
scholars jointly published an open letter: To the Ministry
of Public Security.
The open letter criticized the Jiansanjiang government’s
detention of the four lawyers.
The violent suppression of the supporters is trampling on
the law and vilifying it.
The open letter asked the Ministry of Public Security to stop
the illegal action from Jiansanjiang Reclamation District and
protect the legal right of lawyers meetings.
The open letter also requested an investigation into the black
jails and punishment for the leadership and those responsible.
