Xi Jinping’s Political Choice—How to Escape Trouble?

The new Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretary
and Chairman of the CCP Central Military Commission,
Xi Jinping, has shown concern over his political direction,
among many other issues lately.
Hong Kong media reported that the CCP’s evil will swallow
Xi Jinping, yet some analysts believe he has an opportunity
to escape trouble—but, time is running out.

Hong Kong’s Apple Daily says the CCP leader Jiang Zemin
and former CCP Vice President Zeng Qinghong supported
Xi Jinping’s succession—Xi was chosen because he was
well-known for being a “nice guy”.
Now Xi is trying his best to become tougher, but the CCP’s
evil may swallow him if he attempts a half-hearted reform;
bringing irreparable harm to the Chinese people.

Commentator Wenzhao says one key element for the CCP’s
successor is to continue the predecessor’s political line,
while also protecting their own vital interests.

[Wenzhao]: “No matter who comes into power, the successor
must use the CCP system to gain material benefits for themselves and their family—this is a main issue;
it represents the CCP’s current political ecology—now
Xi Jinping has been chosen as successor, because he was seen as agreeable in all ways.
Xi does not have an outstanding background; it’s hard to say
whether he has the courage or the desire to change reality.”

However, several overseas media say, Xi Jinping had been
chosen for his concentrated immersion in the CCP culture throughout his schooling and within society.

Reports say the highly centralized Lenin-style route
Xi is pursuing looks unusually successful on the surface.
But Xi lacks a complete set of relationships
with the CCP and government.
Due to China’s strange and unpredictable political situation,

the only way for Xi Jinping to establish his authority quickly
is to prioritize political and economic reform.
However, the report also points out that, Xi Jinping may not
have the courage to take a path of wisdom and positivity.

[Lin Zixu]: “People around the world are focusing
their concerns on Xi;
the question is, will Xi Jinping protect or abandon the CCP?
—the number of guesses and comments are overwhelming.”

Wenzhao says, Xi Jinping should take actions
based on public requirements.
Abolishing the Re-education through Labor system
and the CCP Politics and Law Committee;
implementing substantial judicial independence;
ridding restrictions over press freedom and freedom of speech;
and removing the Internet censorship—these actions
could enable Xi to receive societal praise and affirmation.

[Wenzhao]: “If Xi would expose the insider news on Bo
Xilai’s case, like the illegal acts and violations of human rights,
which Bo and his wife Gu Kailai were involved in during Bo’s
post as local CCP leader—such as illegal corpse trafficking
and human organ harvesting—it would really shake the CCP.

Even if Xi exposed only parts of the crimes, he could inject
a positive force for the peaceful transition of China’s future.”

Bo Xilai has not been put on trial yet—critic Wenzhao says
Xi Jinping has the opportunity to choose in this matter; although time is very limited.

Several media have expressed their doubts over whether
Xi Jinping knows just how big a crisis the CCP is facing.

Wenzhao says the top-level CCP has more channels for
getting information and detailed news, and can use
international media as a comparison to internal reports.
The top-level needs to understand clearly what is happening
within China and how serious the CCP’s situation is.
However, Wenzhao says it does not necessarily mean that
the top-level can make a correct decision on their situation.

[Wenzhao]: “Because they are in a system with
all kinds of self-interests,
they always think that they have ways to continue in it;
they may have no idea how long the CCP will exist.”

Commentator Lin Zixu says China’s situation shows that
Xi Jinping does not hold control over the CCP’s existence.
Regardless of Xi Jinping’s wish, eliminating the CCP regime
has become a common aspiration among the Chinese public and also a historical necessity.
Xi Jinping can only choose one thing—
whether to facilitate or block the CCP’s demise.
