CCP Happy with Wall Street Protests

In the US, Wall Street protests have been taking place for
more than two weeks.
Protests against 『corporate greed, social inequality
and other defects』 have been gradually expanding.
US media reports followed up on the protests,
but China’s largest English-language newspaper,
China Daily, has criticized US media for blocking news
of protests on Wall Street.
In China, media covered the protests extensively.

Some western media believe the Chinese Communist Party
(CCP) is happy about the protests.

Demonstrations, which began on September 17th,
have been on going.
On Wednesday, union and community organizers joined protests,
which have now spread to more US cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

On September 30, China Daily published an article titled
『US Media Blackout of Protest is Shameful』.
It is said that several well-known US television networks』 evening
news that day, and the next day『s major newspapers did not report the protests known as 『Occupy Wall Street』.
Chen Weihua, the author of this article, is a China Daily reporter
in New York, and deputy editor of its US edition.

The article said, “police arrested close to 700 people and
pepper-sprayed several female demonstrators. But most coverage that day was not in-depth.”
“Yet the demonstration, known as Occupy Wall Street,
did not appear on the major networks’ evening news or in major newspapers the next day."

Zhao Yan (former researcher in New York Times Beijing bureau):
“I do not agree that US media did not report this matter.
We saw the news on many sites in US, including
in the Chinese media."

Yang Hengjun, a blog writer, also fought back on microblog,
asking them (China Daily) to name media which
did not cover the news in the past two weeks.
It tells lies, deceiving taxpayers.
Similar incidents occurred in China that were not reported by
any Chinese media. This is truly shameful.

Zhao Yan: “All media are under the leadership of
the CCP Propaganda Department.
Their front-page news is often not the day’s news,
but is promotional materials for the rendering of their image.
China’s newspaper is more for propaganda content, not news."

Voice of America said they had a detailed report on the protest.
There were dozens of detailed reports on the Chinese radio,
TV and online. On October 5, the Chinese version reports were
titled “Occupation of Wall Street Demonstration Intensified
and Union people and Students Joined Protests on Wall Street."

Additionally, type “Wall Street Protest” in Google,
within 2 seconds, about 300 million related entries appears.

Type “Wall Street protest" on 『Baidu』, a Chinese search engine,
there have been more than a million of related entries,
but most of them are mainland media reports.

British Financial Times published an article on October 4 entitled,
『China’s Delight at Wall Street Revolution』. It said that at least
one Chinese newspaper has finally expressed strong support for
democracy protests and large-scale sit-in activity.

Zhao Yan: “I think in terms of over all ideology, China still
has a kind of Cold War thinking:
As long as you went wrong, I’m happy. Anyway, if you have
social problems, your country has problems, we are pleased.
It does not hold universal values and a caring attitude on this issue,
nor giving out suggestions to US directly, this is a gloating attitude."

US “Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act
of 2011″ had cause attention recently, and was approved at U.S. Senate on October 3 through procedural.
Before the U.S. Senate vote, CCTV evening news broadcast
headlines about Wall Street protests on October 3.
China Times in Taiwan described the practice of CCTV
as “pre-emptive”.
