Prologue — Chinese Regime Bans Special Offer Label

Multiple government agencies jointly issued a document,
banning government agencies from using “special offer" label.
Officials said this move was to combat illegal uses for profit.

However, many netizens criticized this move calling it
“a name changing game”.
They believe that not using the label does not mean
the special offer is no longer available.

One said ironically, “Be in an underground gang, tear the
label off and then make a special offer.”

One netizen commented:
“Special offer exists with or without a label.”

One laughs at it, “For all up-coming special offers, use other
labels instead, but make sure that no one knows about it.”

Over Half Of China’s Rivers Disappear Due To Exploitation

British Times newspaper reported that in the past 20 years,

more than half of rivers with a drainage area above 38 square
have disappeared in China, mainly due to over-exploitation.

The report used data recently published by Chinese officials.

The number of rivers with more than 38 square miles are now
about 22,000, 28,000 fewer rivers than in the 1990’s.
However, officials claimed the number of rivers has reduced
mainly due to climate change and prior inaccurate investigation.

Environmental experts say that the disappearance of rivers
results from over-exploitation and lack of public consultation.

According to the report, Ma Jun, director of Beijing Institute
of Public Environmental Affairs, believed different survey
methods may lead to different data, but a substantial reduction
in the number of rivers is an indisputable fact.
Ongoing exploitation of the river resources includes exploitation
of groundwater, destruction of the environment, and deforestation

Ma believes that projects similar to the Three Gorges Dam
are also one of the reasons.

The Times commented that environmental pollution has replaced
land disputes in the past, making the Chinese people very angry.
