Beijing Lawyer Stands Up to Shanghai High Official
A Beijing lawyer reported on a microblog network, using her
real name that a Shanghai high official has millions in a bank.
Together with the information she posted photos
of the official’s high class villa in Shanghai.
According to sources, this lawyer was subsequently
subjected to a personal threat from the official.
Was she intimidated by this?
Let’s take a look.
Wang Kangwu is the Deputy Director and Secretary-General
of Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SAC),
and a Dean of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Arbitration.
Guo Wei, a holder of PhD from Tsinghua University,
is a lawyer at the Beijing’ firm “Han Heng Lawyers”.
On March 12, Guo posted Wang’s bank account details,
including number, date of opening and a balance, showing to be over RMB 10 million.
She said, Wang is strong financially and has upper class
villa in a rich Shanghai area, showing photos of the villa.
The Beijing Lawyer Zhou Ze also said on his microblog
that a netizen sent private letter to him on the issue.
The letter says, Wang was the Head of Shanghai High Court,
and is the richest judge.
The registered capital of “Shanghai Kang Hong Investments
Co., Ltd,” where Wang has his holdings, is “450 million”.
Later on, Guo said on her microblog
that she has received a personal threat.
She said, a lawyer named Wang called her law firm and said
on behalf of Secretary-General Wang Kangwu that
if her law firm does not take measures, Wang will take actions.
On the morning of March 13, a reporter got through
Guo Weis telephone.
Guo Wei: ‘Because I am very busy lately, I have something
urgent to attend now to. I will contact you afterwards.’
However, the reporter was not able to get in touch
with Guo Wei again.
On her microblog Guo Wei also revealed
that someone provided clues to her.
They said, Wang’s account once received RMB10 million,
but were not sure if these money were related to the villa.
Another netizen estimated, based to the posted photos,
that the villa should be around 800 square meters.
She said, according to Shanghai’s housing prices,
only from this property Wang should be a billionaire!
But the more important thing is whether the source
of the property is legal or not, the netizen comments.
After Guo was threatened, she cheered herself up, writing
on her microblog: “I am willing to put myself on the line in the name of justice, to make a sacrifice;
I am willing to light up a candle to pay homage to myself.
I am not afraid, because if I am about to die, in this season,
you can only bury me in a flower-filled spring field.
If I am void by Sina, or by this world, I will not care if it is
by no credits, cold, heart attack, car accident, food poisoning…
Because everything is fine, as long as I have my conscience,
even if it all lasts for one moment only.”
On March 14, Wang said on his microblog, the bank account
balance has never reached RMB10 million and it’s far from it.
He also claimed that now he is retired and no longer serves
as the “Secretary-General of SAC”.
So the reporter’s words damage the reputation of others,
and it is a defamation, constituting of “personal attacks”.
Guo however replied on the microblog that Wang Kangwu
‘first called the law firm, and then complained to Sina.’
She said that Wang is a Law School graduate, a judge,
an arbitrator, and one who studied and worked with the law his whole life.
Then why he didn’t go to the court and sue her? Because
the court can have an access to his bank account details.
China Youth Political College’ associate professor, lawyer
Zhou Ze, also posted his client’s complaint letter to Mayor Han Zheng and the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee.
Last November, Liu Ningli’s “Shanghai Donglian Metal
Materials Company’ reported Shanghai Procuratorate” Dean Chen Xu,
and the Secretary-General of Shanghai Labor Arbitration
Committee’ Wang Kangwu,
that they planned false cases, and the court illegally seized
Liu’s company and transferred the property to others.
Guo Wei also posted on her microblog an ‘Appeal to orders,’
saying, “where are the people who have been wronged,
when former Secretary-General of the SAC Wang Kangwu
was in power? I speak up for you!”
Will this real-name report against the Shanghai Procuratorate
and SAC uncover more insides? We will follow up this story.
