今年的诺贝尔和平奖将于10月11号在挪威奥斯陆揭晓,大陆知名维权人士胡佳,成为一名引人瞩目的可能人选。胡佳本人信仰佛教,对西藏、法轮功等中国敏感话题直言不讳。

2008年10月,胡佳曾获得欧洲议会授予的“萨哈罗夫思想自由奖”。时任欧洲议会议长的珀特林在宣布奖项时说:“胡佳是中国最热切的人权维护者之一。他是一个坚定的注重环境保护,与爱滋病作斗争,捍卫人权的活动人士。”

山东高院受理薄熙来上诉

美国《华尔街日报》及《纽约时报》10月9号都透露,被判无期徒刑的前中共重庆市委书记薄熙来,9月30号,已经向山东省高级人民法院提出上诉。报导说,山东高院方面不愿回应这项消息。

不过,当天下午,山东高院就对外宣布,薄熙来在上诉期限内,通过济南中院向山东高院递交上诉状。8号上诉期满,经过审查,决定予以受理。

据台湾《中央社》报导,大陆法律界及中共党内人士透露,山东高院可能不会公开审理薄案,而是重新审视检方在一审时提出的证据,一审判决结果也不会改变。因为判决结果几乎可以肯定是由中共高层决定。

律师欲见郭飞雄五次遭拒 忧郭安危

广东维权人士郭飞雄,自8月8号被当局以涉嫌“聚众扰乱公共场所秩序罪”拘押,已经超过60天。郭飞雄的代理律师隋牧青和蔺其磊,五次前往看守所要求会见,都被警方拒绝。

隋牧青对《美国之音》表示,他非常担心郭飞雄的安危,怀疑他遭受了严重的酷刑,受了伤,而导致警方不让他见人。

大陆异议作家杜导斌10月7号也在微博上表示担心,他怀疑郭飞雄可能已经被整死了。

目前,郭飞雄的家属和律师也没有得到警方的逮捕通知或其他法律文书,而郭被羁押的时间已经远远超出刑事拘留的30天上限。隋牧青表示,这是超期羁押,属于非法拘禁,是犯罪行为。

Activist Hu Jia Could Be Awarded The Nobel Peace Prize

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize will be held in Oslo, Norway
on October 11.
Chinese activist Hu Jia was a potential candidate.

Hu believes in Buddhism. He also openly talks about
sensitive issues in China, such as Tibet and Falun Gong.

In October 2008, Hu was awarded the Sakharov Prize for
Freedom of Thought by the European Parliament (EP).
EP President Hans-Gert Pöttering said: “Hu Jia is one of
the real defenders of human rights, including environmental
issues and HIV/AIDS advocacy."

Shandong Higher People’s Court Accepted Bo Xilai’s Appeal

On Oct. 9, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times
reported that Bo Xilai has appealed to Shandong Higher
People’s Court against his verdict. Reports said that the
Higher court declined to comment.

On Oct. 9, higher court announced that Bo filed his appeal to
Shandong higher court via Jinan intermediate court.
The deadline was on Oct. 8, Jinan court has filed his appeal.

Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported that insiders said
its unlikely the higher court will reopen the trial.
They will review the evidence obtained in first trial.
The verdict won’t be overturned.
It’s the Party leaders who were almost certainly the ones who
had determined the outcome.

Guo Feixiong’s lawyers Went Five Times To
Visit Him – Refused Each Time

Guangdong activist Guo Feixiong has been held over 60 days.

He was detained on Aug. 8 for “gathering a crowd to disrupt
order in a public place".
Guo’s defense lawyers Sui Muqing and Lin Qilei went to the
detention center five times to see Guo.
Each time their requests were refused by the police.

Sui Muqing told Voice of America he was worried
about Guo’s safety.
Maybe Guo was severely tortured and injured, that might
be the reason the police refused their visitation each time.

On Oct. 7, Mainland writer Du Daobin tweeted that he
was worried Guo had been tortured to death already.

Guo’s family and lawyers haven’t received any
arrest notice or legal documents.
Guo’s detention has exceeded the legal limit of 30 days.

Lawyer Sui Muqing said that the police holding Guo had
exceeded the limit.
Guo was illegally arrested, the police had committed crimes.
