Reincarnation or Communist’s Political Puppet

A recent article from a German newspaper, reported how the Dalai Lama wants no successor. This drew harsh criticism from the Chinese authorities.

The office of Tibetan representatives, responded the report was"incomplete" and had mistaken the intentions of the Dalai Lama. The CCP’s claim that the central government has the supreme decision over the title of Dalai Lama is also being criticized.

German’s Welt am Sonntag newspaper indicated Dalai Lama will end the Dalai Lama tradition. In an interview with the Tibet Religious Foundation of H.H. Dalai Lama, Chairman Dawa Tsering told NTD, the fate of the Dalai Lama Institution is ultimately decided by Tibetans. But instead of this being a new idea from Dalai Lama, this has been brought up many times by His Holiness for decades.

Dawa Tsering: “I believe this is the wish of Dalai Lama. He has said it before, this could be the last Dalai Lama, but it is also in the hands of the Tibetans’." “If the Tibetans do not want this Institution, they don’t have to search for the next rebirth. But, if they do desire this Institution, they can look for his rebirth, the 15th Dalai Lama." “This is what the Dalai Lama has repeatedly expressed before."

The exiled Dalai Lama office in Dharamsala, India, also told Voice of America, the German newspaper report was incomplete. It only conveyed part of a long and comprehensive description of the Dalai Lama about the Institute of Dalai Lama.

The CCP mouthpiece Global Times published an article from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, “Dalai Lama has no right ending the Dalai Lama system." The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying, also alleged “The title of Dalai Lama is conferred by the central government, which has hundreds of years of history." The Special Representative of His Holiness to Europe Kelsang Gyaltsen criticizes the CCP’s statements: Such as the central government holds power to supervise and decide the Dalai Lama tradition, and the rebirth of Dalai Lama must be patriotic. They are meant to foster a puppet for the CCP in order to control the Tibetans.

Kelsang Gyaltsen: “This tradition of monks’ reincarnation is becoming a political tool for the CCP." “The Panchen Lama, and many other highly respected monks enjoy a supreme prestige among the people. They are highly respected and trusted by the people." “The CCP uses the succession system as a means to control the entire Tibetan nation. The CCP has done every possible deed to destroy this religious ritual."

The CCP article also stressed, “Tibetan Buddhism does not belong to the Dalai Lama alone,” and, “the 14th Dalai Lama distorts and negates set religious procedure and historic custom. This move of blasphemy will not be accepted by the vast Tibetan Buddhist believers.”

There are netizens questioning the CCP article, “I want to know how this research fellow came to this conclusion. Was Tibetan fieldwork done beforehand? Were the believers consulted? What were the answers? ” Others asked, “Reincarnation is a religious tradition. What has it to do with politics? If the government controls rebirth, what exactly is this government, the idealism or the materialism?"

Dawa Tsering: “The purpose of the Communists is to destroy religion, however, they’ve been manipulating and controlling in the name of religion." “When the concept or ritual of the religion is in their favor, they’ll behave as if to protect that religion, but in fact its to facilitate their ruling and control."

Records show the Dalai Lama had openly stated his intentions of the Institute of Dalai Lama on Sept. 24, 2011: Should the rebirth of Dalai Lama be elected by any political authority, including political leaders of the People’s Republic of China, for political purposes, no one will recognize or believe this child.
