Open Letters Call on U.S. to Act Against Organ Harvesting

The U.S. presidential election is now heating up—
besides concern over economic issues,
the U.S. president’s upcoming third presidential election
will be focusing on foreign policy.
So what are the people’s hopes for the U.S. foreign policy
and what’s the public’s opinion on the presidential candidates?
How do the public measure the quality of the candidates?
—Let’s take a look.

The U.S. Commission on Presidential Debates has arranged
the last election debate on October 22, in Boca Raton, Florida,
which will be focusing on U.S. foreign policy.

On October 14, the Washington DC Falun Dafa Association
published an open letter to the U.S. presidential candidates,
Obama and Romney, on the Chinese Communist Party’s
organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.

The letter mentions the Buddhist Association saying that

in February, Wang Lijun had fled to the U.S. Consulate
in Chengdu and had submitted data which likely includes:
Insider information on Bo Xilai and the high-level officials
behind him, who supported the persecution of Falun Gong and political dissidents;
as well as information on the regime’s harvesting of
prisoners’ organs and their sale for profit.

[Wu Ruonian, Washington DC Falun Dafa Association]:
“The purpose of our letter is to urgently call on the two U.S.
presidential candidates to take the issue of organ harvesting
from Falun Gong practitioners as an important foreign policy.
And also to commit to list this issue in the Chief Program and
state what actions will be taken to stop it; it’s very important.”

Wu says she doesn’t want to see the presidential election’s
final debate being solely focused on Libya, and on the U.S. ambassador being murdered in Libya;
instead the U.S. foreign policy should focus on China.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been systematically
persecuting any group with individual beliefs and has forcibly
removed human organs from live prisoners of conscience;
the U.S. government must make a stand on such a major issue.

[Wu Ruonian]: “This issue is crucial; we can measure the
quality of the U.S. presidential election candidate through his attitude on this,
and it relates to the global future, including of U.S. and China.

So why could the U.S become a world leader
and why could it develop its economy so much?
The most fundamental reason is that the U.S. has pioneered
in global freedom, democracy and human rights.
If the U.S cannot play this role, then its light as a global
beacon of freedom may be extinguished.”

Wu says both U.S. and China are facing a historic moment.

[Wu Ruonian]: “We convinced the criminals that
the CCP’s forced harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners’ organs will be fully exposed soon in the near future.
On the other hand, we see that now the U.S. is at a crossroads:
U.S. unemployment rates have been high; debts are rising;
and the U.S.’ influence in the world has declined.

In November, the U.S will elect a new president and forge its
future direction—all these issues are very important.”

On October 5, Falun Gong practitioner, Prof. Gao Yuan
from George Mason University,
also successfully submitted a letter to Obama, in line with
the Washington DC Falun Dafa Association’s correspondence.
The letter brought to Obama’s attention, positive responses
from hundreds of U.S. Congress members who are standing up against the issue of forced organ harvesting.
On October 4, 106 members of Congress signed a petition
asking the U.S. government to disclose relevant information.

[Prof. Gao Yuan, George Mason University]:
“Personally, I hope he brings justice as a President of the U.S.
because democratic countries talk about freedom, democracy,
and I hope he will adhere to the fundamental spirit.
Organ harvesting is an evil which has never been seen before;
hopefully Obama will use his position and release it publicly.”

Besides Obama and Romney, U.S. vice presidential candidate
Paul Ryan also received letters, calling upon them to stop the CCP’s organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners;
it’s forming a new landscape in the U.S. presidential elections.

At this critical juncture in history, have Obama and Romney
heard the voice of the public?
