Gu Kailai Murder Motive Differs from Official Version

The murder trial of Gu Kailai
and Zhang Xiaojun has quickly ended.
Both were charged with killing
British businessman Neil Heywood.
In an unprecedented move,
the court held a press conference.
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) state runs Xinhuanet.com
released official news based on the court’s statement.
Regarding Gu Kailai’s homicidal motives,
Gu’s argument differs from the official version.
What are the real murder motives of Gu Kailai?

On August 9, one hour after Gu Kialai’s murder trial ended,
an official CCP news release appeared on Xinhuanet.com.
It said that the court identified Gu as the main perpetrator
and Zhang Xiaojun was identified as an accomplice.
The official script stated that both should be given
criminal sanctions over “intentional homicide" charges.

The official news release elaborated
on the crimes committed by Gu and Zhang.
Gu’s motives for murder were due to economic conflicts.

According to the script, this caused Gu and her son
Bo Guagua to come into dispute with Neil Heywood.

By comparison, Gu Kailai stated that she thought
Heywood threatened the safety of Bo Guagua.
She instructed Zhang Xiaojun to kill Heywood with poison.

Radio France Internationale quoted Jiang Weiping.

Jiang Weiping is an ex-director of Hong Kong’s
Wen Wei Po, in Northeastern China.
Jiang said that there is a significant
difference between the two statements.
Jiang thinks that the official version
strengthened Gu’s excuse.

In reality, the two arguments on Gu’s motives
for murder seem to be unconvincing.

Critic Lin Zixu said it is very ridiculous to use the pretext
of Bo Guagua being threatened, as the homicide motive.

Lin Zixu: “If her son was really being threatened by Heywood,
Heywood would be very much on his guard against Gu Kailai.
What’s more, the best way to protect your son whose life
was threatened is to keep him at your side all the time.
But in fact, over the past few years, Bo Guagua has been
living outside China, such as in the U.K. or the U.S.
Gu’s argument doesn’t hold."

Lin Zixu points out that the power and influence of Bo Xilai
made it unnecessary for Gu Kailai to commit murder herself.
Lin Zixu refuted the official claims that Gu killing
Heywood was triggered by economic interests.

Linzi Xu: “How wealthy is Bo Xilai’s family?
It is super rich, so would be a life for a life after a killing.
So how much do you intend to pay
to buy back your own life then?
These powerful officials, and particularly princelings
consider their own lives very valuable.
So unless she had especially shocking secrets or
unspeakable difficulties, she wouldn’t need to do it herself."

Three days before Gu stood trial, The Epoch Times
disclosed that Gu and her husband Bo Xilai were
involved in the atrocities of forced live organ harvesting,
and allegedly traded in dead bodies.
Neil Heywood was reportedly murdered by the Bo couple
because he knew too much about their crimes.

Lin Zixu comments that only the most evil of “forced live
organ harvesting” could justify Gu’s motive for murder.
Lin analyzed that Gu Kailai tried
to cover up such a startling secret.
Killing Heywood with her own hands
is the only way that made her feel secure.

Lin Zixu: “If Neil Heywood also got involved in these crimes,
Gu killing him by herself was the most assured way.
Letting any other person to do it would
arouse that person’s suspicion.
Once it was leaked, Gu would be the target of suspicion.
The “live organ harvesting" crimes would then be exposed."

Analysts said that the CCP seems
to be cutting off Bo Xilai from Gu Kailai.
Japan’s Shimbun reported that on the pretext
of a full courthouse, the court rejected foreign media reporters from attending the hearing.
“This raised doubts on the fairness of the trial.”

As the case develops, it seems harder to conceal the truth.
More inside stories kept being unveiled to the public.

Gu Kailai’s government-appointed lawyer claimed Gu
had made major contributions by reporting others’ offences.
The remarks set the stage for the later court verdict.
Whose crimes were committed by Gu Kailai?
And what is the case about? Was it about a one
that was more important than Heywood’s murder?
The global community is waiting
to see what the CCP will say next.
