Facebook

Wen Jiabao Puts Forward the “Vindication of Falun Gong"

Premier Wen Jiabao’s recent talks at high-level meetings

keep disturbing the taboo subjects of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

On March 24, the overseas media quoted the insider news

saying that Wen Jiabao put forward political reform,

“vindication of June 4th democratic movement", and

vindication of the CCP’s former leaders Hu Yaobang and Zhao Ziyang.

Wen even openly proposed the “vindication of Falun Gong",

But he faced fierce opposition from Jiang Zemin’s clique,

notably from Zhou Yongkang, Jiang’s chief representative

of Jiang’s gang.

Outside commentators say that in the CCP’s top circle

a great division in attitudes toward ways of handling the Falun Gong issue has emerged.

This signals an both escalation and an opening up of

the conflict between Hu-Wen and Zhou Yongkang.

After Wen Jiabao proposed “the vindication of Falun Gong",

the CCP’s most taboo word “Falun Gong" could be

successfully searched on Baidu, China’s largest search engine.

On March 21 at 1 am, Falun Gong could be searched on Baidu.

“Zhuan Falun" is the main book for guiding the cultivation of

Falun Dafa practitioners.

The next day, Baidu lifted another ban on “False Fire",

a film exposing the

truth of the Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident

that took place in 2001.

Late on March 23, another lifting on Baidu was the book

“Bloody Harvest: The Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China".

The main names dominating the whole persecution and

the evil organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners are

Jiang Zemin, Zhou Yongkang, Luo Gan, and Bo Xilai.

Zhang Jielian, an expert in China issues, considers this

development a strong signal that a turning point has been reached.

Zhang Jielian says “This open statement indicates that a

serious difference has grown among the CCP top leaders

on whether or not to continue the persecution of Falun Gong.

This is the key issue.

Wen raised this topic by talking about political reform and

the Wang Lijun incident.

The core issue that has been hidden from the public for

over a dozen years, has now surfaced at last.

I believe that a dramatic turmoil will be the result

in the CCP’s political situation."

July 20, 1999 witnessed the beginning of

a bloody persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP,

which was initiated and headed by Jiang Zemin.

For over a decade, hundreds of millions of Falun Gong

practitioners suffered torture and brutality as victims of the persecution.

And many members of their families and friends have been

harassed and have also suffered

because of the CCP’s kinship punishment policy.

The persecution has extended to nearly every family in China.

Wen Jiabao’s recent proposal of the “vindication of Falun Gong"

can now be viewed as an open confrontation with Jiang’s clique.

That is, the current CCP top leadership is no longer willing to

continue to take the rap for Jiang’s crimes, and

does not want to continue to sustain the huge and

costly repression of Falun Gong.

Zhang Jielian says: “That is,

the regime now has no way to go.

Now there’s a saying that the CCP has caused it’s own

downfall because of its persecution of Falun Gong.

Actually, it has lost the basis of its political reign,

as well as losing popular support, the economy is experiencing problems,

and there are other areas of discontent with it’s rule..

So, if the CCP still wants to maintain its rule,

there must be a breakthrough on this issue.

Otherwise, it (the CCP) will completely perish."

But despite this, Jiang’s clique still strongly opposes

Wen Jiabao’s proposal of the “vindication of Falun Gong".

Zhang Jielian: “The resistance apparently comes from

the power group headed by Jiang Zemin and Zhou Yongkang.

Because launching nationwide persecution of Falun Gong

has been a tool for them to gain personal interest and power.

If the persecution can’t be continued, they’ll inevitably

face a final punishment for their crimes. That’s what they fear the most."

On March 14, Wen Jiabao once again expressed his determination

to carry out political reform in his replies to the media reporters.

Wen stressed the need of the people’s awakening and support.

Yet outside reviews say that Wen’s repeated promises of

political reform seem never to be put into practice.

Zhang Jielian has a negative outlook on the possibility of

political reform under the reign of Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao.

This is because Jiang Zemin has already set up a full-fledged

power system that secures the carrying out of the suppression policy.

That actually makes Hu and Wen mere figureheads, says Zhang.

According to Hu Jun, the initiator of the Human Rights

Campaign in China,

the often promised political reform under the CCP’s

dictatorship is simply a way of playing for time that is typical of it’s political system.

Hu Jun says: “The CCP’s infighting has now become intense

and has been brought into the open.

If he (Wen Jiabao) wants to save his life, there are only two

options: the first one is to return the power to the people,

the 2nd one is to stand on the side of the people.

The power of the people can keep his life safe. “

Hu Jun comments that this is not the awakening of the

Chinese people themselves, but of the CCP’s top leadership.

Has Wen Jiabao truly awakened yet, or not ?
