“Why Is It So Difficult To Be A Good Person In China?”

In Foshan, Guangdong Province, a two-year-old girl,
Yue Yue was run over by two vans successively.
She died on October 21. Over a dozen adults passed by
but didn’t offer help. Their indifference drew global attention.
On October 18, a blind citizen in Shenzhen
accidentally fell into a five-meter deep ditch.
He shouted for help, struggling for half an hour,
but without getting any assistance.
The blind later said that he could hear a lot of people
passing by but no one helped him.
On the same day, a 5-year-old boy in Luzhou, Sichuan,
was killed by a truck’s, repeated rolling him over.
Scholars pointed out that people are born good.

China’s current social morality falling below the base line
is due to CCP (Chinese Communist Party) consistent efforts.

Hu Ping, Editor-in-Chief of Beijing Spring magazine, said
the indifference of today’s Chinese people is fostered by CCP.
Since it came into power, the CCP aroused people’s mania
to do many outrageous things.
In the process it let people cast aside mania and choose
indifference. CCP’s totalitarian ruling was thus maintained.

Hu Ping: “The authoritarian regime is devoted to bullying
the good people. It exclusively tramps on people’s sympathy.
It kept doing this over the past decades. Its purpose is to
create apathy, making it a common practice across China.
The authoritarian regime survives by depending
entirely on this apathy.
If people expresses concern over others’ suffering, so many
wicked things would have been exposed and fought against.
But everyone kept silent, so all evildoings continued
to develop and some were even done in the broad day light.
Since everyone was silent, it went unchecked.”

Chinese history expert, Li Yuanhua, comments that the CCP
destroyed Chinese traditional culture, causing the Chinese to lose moral direction.
On the other hand, CCP uses violence to suppress kind
people, provoking fear in civilians to do good things.

Li Yuanhua: “For example, some vulnerable groups
like petitioners, the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners,
some rights lawyers who speak out for them out of their
consciences to uphold justice, they were all suppressed."

People are born good. Hu Ping said, Chinese people found
that acting as a good person always paid the price, suffering merciless attacks.
So they were compelled to choose indifference
to wrap themselves up with.

Hu Ping: “In the early 1990s, some dissidents were bullied
by the police on Tiananmen Square.
Thousands of people are coming and going there,
but no one stood up to speak out for them.
There is a photo showing Falun Gong practitioners were
petitioning by practicing exercises on Tiananmen Square.
A police’s big shoe was stepping on a practitioner’s head.
All onlookers around said nothing but just watched.
You can’t say all of them did not have sympathy. But they
knew if they expressed sympathy, they’d get into trouble."

Hu Ping told NTD that the son of Wang Lihong, a doctor
recently sentenced to jail, asked “why is it so difficult to be a good person in China?”
Such a phenomenon is really worrying.

Hu Ping: “In a normal society, if you see a person falling down,
your helping him stand up will receive everyone’s praise.
In a democratic country, if you see the government’s
misbehaving, you can criticize it, for you know that you are protected by the law and others will back you up.
But in China, the CCP’s regime has destroyed
such a social behavior within the community.”

On October 19, Wen Jiabao chaired an executive meeting
of CCP’s State Council to establish a social credit system.
Expert on Chinese history Li Yuanhua comments, in China
the environment of being a good person has been ruined.
Such a call is too weak to be implemented.

Li Yuanhua: “Falun Gong promotes
Truthfulness – Benevolence – Forbearance,
If a society suppresses such a community group, believing
in Truthfulness – Benevolence – Forbearance, what it safeguards is fake-evil-fight.
On a long run the social morality will turn
into an environment of fake-evil-fight.
The CCP top-level’s calls are too weak
to be implemented in reality. ”

Hearing about the death of the little Yueyue,
a netizen sighed online,
an angel might be living in Heaven, a world without apathy,
where she might live more happily than in today’s China.
