What is the Reason Behind Crazy Students Tearing Books and Mauling the Teachers?

Before China’s college entrance examination, many students prefer to release the pressure by tearing the book which was called the book tearing carnival. It has been the common behavior for mainland high school senior students to tear all books before
the college entrance examination. Recently, at Sha’anxi Changwu county high school, 6 students mauled their teacher because of being unsatisfied with the teacher stopping them tearing their books, resulting in the teacher’s head bleeding. Why did the students act like that?

May 30 is the last day for Changwu High School senior students, because they will go home to prepare for the college entrance examination in the afternoon. At 10am in the morning, a crazy book tearing activity started in the high school senior building with the paper scraps covering the whole floor.

Zhejiang dissident writer Chen Shuqing: “Only the College Entrance Exams are comparatively fair for Chinese children under the mainland education system; Regarding other occupations such as business all kinds of employment are unequal. So the whole country of China take college entrance exams seriously which makes high school pay more attention to it. For sure, students bear the greatest pressure long term. They might collapse if they can’t afford it. Tearing the book is a good way to release the pressure.”

In case the students include dangerous stuff such as throwing dangerous items, the school will arrange for the teachers to stop students’ crazy behavior.

On 30th May 30 at 11am, a senior high school student who was tearing a book was stopped by an inspecting teacher, Cao. 20 minutes later, teacher Cao was pushed to the ground by a group students using a mop stick at the corner of the fourth floor. When the other teachers came to assist, teacher Cao had blood on the head and face, the three mop sticks were broken into several pieces.

Vice schoolmaster Xie Linping said that the discontent student, who was reprimanded by teacher Cao found 4 students in the same classroom and 1 student in another class room who attacked teacher Cao with mop sticks.

Teacher Cao’s injury was diagnosed with a traumatic headache, similar to a concussion. In order not to affect six students’ exam, the teacher promised not to report them to police, but Cao’s families reported them in the afternoon of June 1.

Chen Shuqing: “it’s obviously wrong for six students to beat their teacher. It won’t happen in other civilized countries for the students only release their own pressure without respecting others. The students should appreciate teachers. The students’ behavior means there is a big problem in mainland China’s education system which falls short of basic quality education about respecting social order and other people. We don’t teach it.”

Commentator Ren Baiming: This phenomenon is inseparable from China’s education system. China’s education is completely separate from Chinese traditional culture because it uses the party cultural ideas, especially the so-called struggle philosophy plus the money first and pragmatism. So the whole process introduced the so-called survival of the fittest survival, excessive competition, opportunism which caused students to just deal with the exam for future employment, but contained very little behavioral education.

Some people said it is a consequence of The examination-oriented education. What is the use of these students going to college? Schools are like the underworld.

The commentator Yang Fan pointed out, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) insisted on examination-oriented education by tampering with the history to strengthen the party culture and the people’s spiritual control to hide their shameful larceny history and hide the sins it has committed to the people and nation.

June 1, a very controversial picture was forwarded via the internet. In the picture, a teacher is a mouthpiece with an ax overhead; a few rows of wood with people sitting in the audience; an old wooden person was pulling a normal child into the classroom at the entrance.

Xi’an documentary filmmaker Li Bin sighed at a group of children, who went through the tyranny machine line in life, but never came out.

Renbai Ming: We can’t use one or two days to solve this problem. We need to clear party culture from people’s thoughts to fully restore Chinese traditional culture which will take a long time.

It is said that China’s education system is the main reason for Chinese wealthy emigration. According to the U.S. Globe and Mail (Global Post) February report, a China Rich List Regal survey shows, two-thirds of Chinese tycoons have emigrated or been ready to emigrate to seek a better life abroad; 80% people want their children to be educated abroad.
