Liu Yunshan’s Comment, “Marxism Is Our Ancestor" Sparks Outrage

Political Bureau Standing Committee member Liu Yunshan
declared in a national propaganda meeting that the Chinese
“cannot abandon the ancestor," and urged people to
strengthen their study of Marxism-Leninism.
His argument was refuted by Chinese both at home and
abroad as a complete betrayal and sellout to the enemy.
Many Chinese countered that “the adopted one"
cannot be their ancestor.

In Beijing, at a Jan. 3 national meeting of publicity
department heads from across the country, member
of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau
Liu Yunshan addressed attendees.
He said a more proactive approach in publicizing ideology
is necessary, that the theories of the Communist Party’s
ancestors cannot be abandoned, and that they should be used
to control the media and public opinion.
The theories of Marx, Lenin, and Mao should be studied,
promoted, and strengthened, he brazenly declaired.

Zhang Jian, China affairs expert: “His talk explains why
the Communist regime continues to insist on the dictatorship
ideology.

It is the same as Wu Bangguo’s ‘Five No’s."

China affairs expert Zhang Jian believes in the face
of the democratic trend throughout the world, the Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) has recognized
its fate of elimination.
Thus, the CCP gives one last ditch struggle before its end.

Its intention is to deceive people via its ideology and drag
the entire nation into an abyss from which there is no return.

Zhang Jian says that Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism,
benevolence, righteousness, propriety, conscience
and “being true" are parts of the Chinese ancestry,
not the so-called Marxism-Leninism.
Since the CCP came in to power, all traditional Chinese
culture has been destroyed and betrayed.

Zhang Jian: “It is complete betrayal to adopt a ghost
from abroad as ones ancestor.
This is rebellious and blasphemous to Chinese culture."

Liu Yunshan’s ancestor speech sparked public outcry
on the Internet.

An activist with the screen name “Tang Gula" commented,
“The theory negated and abandoned by mankind is clearly
not worthy, unless one admits himself as not human.

The adopted one is no ancestor.
Recognize the people first, not the ancestor.
Listen to what the people have to say, not the theory."

A retired university faculty member with the screen name
“Raptors" states, “Someone claims not to have abandoned
the ancestor, but netizens refuse to be the descendants
of Marx."

A netizen from Shenzhen quibbled, “My gosh, Marx, Engels,
and Lenin have become their ancestors.
Their children are abroad, do their ancestors have
to be adopted too?!"

Another netizen wrote, “We are Chinese.
Marx and Lenin are not our ancestors."

Wang Kang, anti-communist scholar: “Those netizens
are correct.
Liu Yunshan is Chinese, not German or Russian.
What is an ancestor? China has been a patrilineality.
Going backward, the ancestors cannot be Marx or Lenin.
They must be Chinese."

Wang Kang told NTD that the CCP’s remarks were meant
to create an image of its ‘orthodoxy,’ to reshape its ideology
and reshuffle the political power within the party.

Wang Kang: “It is for the purpose of bringing China towards
the 『Red Empire’ ideal that the CCP is requiring
this re-strengthening of ideology and re-sanctification.
It is ridiculous and also very dangerous."

Last year, the CCP intensified its Internet censorship,
targeting the posts of popular netizens and blocking 100,000
Internet accounts.

Meanwhile, a large number of Internet monitoring personnel
were trained as so-called Internet opinion analysts who
actually serve to direct and mislead Internet opinion.

Liu Yunshan was the Deputy Director of the Propaganda
Department in 1993.
He became director between 2002 and 2012, and has
participated in Jiang Zemin’s persecution campaign
of Falun Gong practitioners.

The Propaganda Department has concocted
a massive amount of false news stories and programs
to discredit Falun Gong and instigate hatred against
Falun Gong among the innocent public.

However, many more netizens have awakened to the truth.

Using firewall breaching systems, they have denounced
the CCP via “Tuidang," an overseas website hosted
by the Epoch Times.

To date, more than 150 million Chinese have quit
the Communist Party and its affiliated organizations.
