Tibetan Dies in Self-Immolation Protest Against Chinese Communist Party Rule.

Dorjee Rinchen, a Tibetan, has died after self-immolating
in protest against Chinese Communist Party (CCP) rule.
Dorjee Rinchen is the third Tibetan who
has self-immolated within four days.
Sources said that Lhasa is now
full of CCP soldiers and police.
Some of them are dressed as monks,
in order to monitor the Tibetans.
Heavy controls have forced some
Tibetans to take shelter in rural areas.
They are reported to only be returning to Lhasa
after the CCP 18th Congress has ended.

On October 23, Tibetan Dorjee Rinchen, aged 57,
set himself on fire in protest against CCP rule in Tibet.
He died at the scene, nearby the Armed Forces
Department of Xiahe County, Gansu Province.
Dorjee Rinchen is the third Tibetan who
has self-immolated within four days.

Monks traveled from Labrang Monastery
to Dorjee Rinchen’s home to pray for him.
On route, they were intercepted
by CCP police and army soldiers.
Currently, Xiahe County has numerous
soldiers and police active on the streets.
Local Tibetans are all under surveillance.

Authorities have blocked access to the internet
and other communication services.

Dawa Tsering, President of the Tibet Religious
Foundation of the Dalai Lama, commented.
Dawa says that the CCP has tightened
repression over local Tibetans.
This has forced Tibetans to protest by
self-immolating, forming a vicious cycle.

As the CCP 18th Congress draws nearer, Tibetans
have been put under severe surveillance and control.
This includes entry and exit of Lhasa, prayer,
pilgrimage, and visiting friends and relatives.

An anonymous Tibetan from Europe spoke to
Radio Free Asia about the current situation in Lhasa.
Some soldiers and policemen, with shaved heads and
dressed in monks robes, mingled amongst the crowds.
They stood at public pay phone
booths, monitoring local Tibetans.
If two or more Tibetans were walking together,
they would be examined, registered and had photos taken by security guards.
However, any Han Chinese in Lhasa can freely
walk on the street, only needing to show his or her ID.
The excessive control has forced some Tibetans
to escape to the rural areas outside Lhasa.

Dawa Tsering: “The oppression by the Chinese
government exactly targets specific ethnicities and faiths.
This is unfair treatment based on different ethnicity
or religious faith. That is, it’s ethnic discrimination."

Earlier this year, in Banma county of Qinghai Province,
some Tibetan monks and laymen protested for freedom.
Local CCP authorities ordered Banma’s police chief
Wamdo to arrest all participants within three months.
This order was rejected, so Wamdo was
thus removed from the office in July.

Dawa Tsering: “All Tibetan officials, if they refuse
to obey the CCP authorities, would be dismissed.
It’s just an official policy."

Dawa Tsering reveals that some Tibetan officials
openly oppose suppressing their own fellow ethnicity.
Thus, they were removed and even
imprisoned by the CCP authorities.
