A Joke in US-China Dialogue: CCP is Engaged in a C2 rather than G2

The fourth round of the two-day US-China Strategic
and Economic Dialogue opened at Diaoyutai state guesthouse in Beijing on the morning of May 3.
Dai Bingguo, the Chinese State Councilor, said in the opening
ceremony that the US and China will not seek a “Group of 2”
(G2 – in which the two countries become superpowers together)
relationship, but will engage in a “Coordination 2”(C2)
relationship (a relationship based on mutual coordination.)
Dai also said that the 13 billion Chinese will take another
developmental road which will differ from US and other western societies.
But many Chinese in Mainland China said that Dai’s words
don’t represent their opinions.
On the contrary, the Chinese aspire to develop a western
democratic system.
Many democrats also said that the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) is still playing with words,
and continuing to maintain its dictatorship
during the US-China Dialogue.

The CCP mouthpiece “Xinhua Net” reported on May 3
that Dai Bingguo, the Chinese State Councilor,
said during the fourth round of the US-China Strategic and
Economic Dialogue,
that building a new type of major powers’ relationship
between the US and China should start from Asia-Pacific.
Also, the US and China will not seek a G2 relationship,
will not pursue control of the world together,
and won’t pursue conflict with each other,
but will engage in a “coordination 2”(C2).

Zou Wei, a Chinese democracy activist suspects neighboring
countries won’t think highly of China if the government doesn’t solve its human rights issues.

Zou Wei: “When communicating with the international
society, a country will not be respected if the
country has a very bad human rights record and
the current human rights situation is poor.
A country without prestige will have a very tense and ugly
environment and relationship with neighboring countries.”

Just before the US-China Dialogue, Chen Guangcheng,
a blind activist who had been under CCP-ordered house arrest for 18 months,
fled to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing on April 26
with the help of good-hearted people.
Many people said that Chen’s fleeing increased the difficulty
of the US-China Dialogue, and was a slap in the CCP’s face on the issue of human rights.

En Guang, a Chinese democrat: “The world is looking at you.
What you did will be seen and monitored by the world.

But the CCP is evil, and always doesn’t recognize what it did.”

US congressman Chris Smith from New Jersey, who has been
concerned about Chen Guangcheng’s situation for a long time,
said during the opening day dialogue that the US must make
proper arrangements for Chen and his family,
guarantee their safety and freedom, otherwise
the US-China dialogue should be postponed.

Zou Wei thinks China must promote political reform,
and abandon the one-party dictatorship.

Zou Wei: “Stop the suppression of political dissidents,
stop the suppression of religions and believers which includes Falun Gong practitioners.
Then, China’s human rights can be recognized
by the international society.
With the improvement of China’s human rights, the Chinese
government will have a real qualification to be in contact with the international strong powers and its neighbors.”

However, Dai Bingguo said in the the US-China Dialogue
opening ceremony that
the 13 billion Chinese have the right to take another road
which is different from the US and other western societies.
Their road will meet China’s situation as well as benefit
the world.
He said that nobody can push China to change direction.

Zou Wei: “Any road that deviates from the basic opinion
of the 13 billion Chinese which is freedom, democracy and human rights, will have no meaning.
Only when basing rule on respecting human being’s basic
values, freedom and democracy, will the road be meaningful.”

Zou Wei pointed out that the reason why the United States
is respected by others is based on its strengths. Economic strength is only one part.
The most important reason is its values which
are democracy, freedom and human rights.
These principles are the basic ones for humans,
and all countries based on these values will be strong.
Currently, China is lacking democracy, freedom
and human rights.

En Guang, a Chinese democrat: ”The CCP government has
been maintaining this special political system for so many years.
The so-called not engaging in Parliament, not engaging
in a multi-party democracy is a kind of propaganda to fool people (into thinking) that this regime is reasonable and lawful.”

En Guang said the CCP uses the political system
to control the market-oriented economy.
This is inherently inconsistent.
So, it’s difficult to move forward.
