CCP’s Suppression Intensifies

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has tightened

its suppression on civil religious activities.
Tuesday in Zhengyang, Henan, police raided

a family church and detained 49 believers,
2 of 3 Korean pastors were expelled, one detained.
China has ca. 8000 underground church believers,
and due to fear of North Africa-like rights activities,

CCP suppression intensifies.

Underground Christian Watchman Church has

last month suffered invasion during public service,
with 169 members arrested and dozens detained
in the following weeks.
Police accused them of illegal assembly.
Though released a few days later, those believers
were threatened and kept under house arrest.

RFA reported that police from national security

and religion department raided a family church

in Weishi county, Zhengzhou, when 49 believers

and 3 Korean pastors were having Bible study.
They were locked in a local church, interrogated,
and accused of unlawful gathering.

Fu Xiqiu, pastor of Assistance to China (a Christian
rights organization based in Texas), said that

CCP’s recent clampdowns is due to its new policy.

Fu Xiqiu: “We noticed that in other Chinese regions
CCP’s crackdown had been intensified. It started
back last December when CCP’s safety committee
released a secret order known as Deterrent Action,
and State Religious Affairs Secretary

Wang Zuoan made his speech in Hainan.”

With about 1000 members, The Watchmen Church
is classified as an illegal church as it is not registered.
CCP authorities do not allow them to register and
when they congregate police comes to dispel them.
The Watchmen Church then decided to hold

church services in public areas and are resolute
to not stop until they get permission to register

or get a legal place for public church services.

On May 1, Foundation for American democracy

hosted the 6th Ethnic Youth Leadership Conference

in L.A., inviting groups such as Falun Gong,
China’s Family Church, Catholics and other

persecuted minorities to join and discuss

religions’ issues in China.

Chinese Family Church representative Mu Wenbin
said, “Family Church is a bit more fortunate than
Falun Gong, due to the large number of believers
in China, CCP can’t just term us as cult, knowing

that there are 2 billion Christians in the world, and

still hundreds of us were arrested since January.”

Falun Gong rights representatives Chen Shizhong,
holding photos of Falun Gong practitioners tortured
in prison, said heartbrokenly, “A considerable

number of Falun Gong practitioners were jailed

in the first 3 months of the year and thinking about

the numerous jails in China, it’s unimaginable,

the persecution is the cruelest of its kind.”

clearwisdom.net’s statistics showed, so far, there are
3434 Falun Gong practitioners persecuted to death,
at least 6000 practitioners are illegally sentenced,
over 100,000 are in illegal detention, thousands in
mental hospitals, forced to take harmful substances,
countless of them are arrested and thrown to prisons
for brainwashing and torture, and even more are

beaten, attacked and blackmailed by “law officials.”

Wu Yinglian from UCLA said, “The persecution

of Falun Gong is the severest and as we defend
ourselves, in a sense we are defending others

who are in the same situation.”

UN human rights commissioner also agreed

that the persecution in China is unimaginably cruel.
