Declare Their Property Interests

On the day when Transparency International published its
corrupt countries rankings of 2013, three Chinese citizens in
Jiangxi, Liu Ping, Wei Zhongping, and Li Sihua, were on trial
for calling on officials to make their property declarations.

BBC Chinese report revealed that the defendants’ attorney
Pu Zhiqiang said fair trial principles were seriously violated
and the legal rights of the legal counsel and defendants were
compromised on the day of the trial.

The court was heavily guarded outside.

Lawyers coming to show solidarity to the victims were

The 12 witnesses, either under surveillance or house arrest
by the police, cannot get to the courtroom to testify.

As a result, the court was adjourned. A retrial
