Emigration Wave Hits China

A publication from October 29 shows 14% of China’s wealthy
have emigrated, with nearly 50% more considering fleeing too.
They take away billions of yuan. Meanwhile, workers’ social
conflicts are rising. Hong Kong media described China as a sinking ship.

On October 29, Hurun Research Institute and private banks
released ‘White Paper of China’s Private Wealth Management.’
It shows 14% of China’s millionaires are emigrating or
are applying for emigration, with 46% considering the same.

This wave is different from the previous emigration waves of
“illegal emigration” in the ’70s and “hard workers” in the ’90s.
The current third wave consists of skilled resources and
businessmen, mainly the intellectual elite and the newly rich.

Hong Kong’s Uni Immigration Consultancy Ltd. manager,
Chen Tieshan said they deal with investment emigration cases.
Only last year they handled over 400 such cases of wealthy
Mainland Chinese, worth hundreds of millions of yuan.

Chen Tieshan: “In recent years, 70 to 80% of
our customers are from Mainland China.
They mainly invest in Hong Kong (HK) to do business.
They are unsure about China’s political and economic situation.”

Recently “naked businessmen” and “naked officials”
became popular terms in China.
These are businessmen and officials, sending children and
spouses overseas and staying in China to earn more money.
They leave the country as soon as
the opportunity for them arrives too.

A wealthy man from Mainland China: “Why do we do this?
For better education of the children and our convenience.
Some do it to avoid issues from the past,
others for sanity and safety.”

HK’s Dongxiang Magazine Editor-in-chief Zhang Weiguo
mentioned about this trend citing public statistics.
He said, over 90% of ministry-level officials of CCP (Chinese
Communist Party) have their children and wives emigrated.
Even the CCP media itself has reported about cases
of corrupt officials using foreign passports to flee the country.

Zhang Weiguo: “In the past some businessmen thought
they could survive in China as long as they flatter the CCP.
Now they gradually realize that the situation is not good.

If they do not leave, they would follow this political system
and die together with the CCP.
They had to escape from this sinking boat.”

While the new rich are emigrating from China,
more social conflicts take place in the Mainland.
HK media pinglun.eastday.com published a special report
on October 29, titled: “The Rich Escape and The People Protest, China Loses People and Money.”
It states that the top and the grassroots people are alienated,
which means the policy is wrong.
Those in power rob money without fear. They violate the law,
suppress people, and damage society’s moral principals.
Whole families of people in power have foreign passports.

They would flee China when the situation is not good,
leaving the bottom class in deep trouble.

Zhang Weiguo: “CCP obviously has noticed this issue.
But it does not have the bandwidth to take care of this.
The CCP itself is the cause of the problem. For example,
the next CCP leader Xi Jinping is a “naked official” himself.
Bo Xilai is another example.
This is popular amongst CCP officials.”

A report from pinglun.eastday.com states, the CCP had long
abandoned the two vulnerable groups – workers and peasants.
Most of the newly rich do not feel their wealth is safe.
With foreign passports, they will not stick to CCP in difficult times.
Today’s China is a like a sinking ship.

Passengers do not work together to repair it,
but compete to tear apart and sink the ship.
