CCP Lured Soldiers to Make 1989 Tiananmen Massacre

A U.S. diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks reveals
that a soldier who participated in the Tiananmen massacre
disclosed that in the martial law troops,
the CCP authorities (Chinese Communist Party)
started a rumor saying that 100 soldiers were killed by
the students, luring army soldiers to fire on civilians.
Families of the victims called on participants and witnesses
to stand up by telling the truth to restore history.

The filing of this cable was made at the U.S. Consulate
in Shanghai on 26th March, 1990, less than one year from
June 4, 1989 Tiananmen massacre.
The cable revealed that when a consular staff returned to
his hometown village at Zhejiang, he heard a mother
talking about her son’s experiences of participating in
the Tiananmen massacre.

As the mother described, her son was a soldier of
the 38th army division, one of martial law troops in Beijing.
On 4th June, 1989, her son and his companions
should have fired warning shots in the southeast corner
of Tiananmen Square. But later they received
a verbal message from the highest level, saying that
there were 100 soldiers missing who might have been killed
by the demonstrating students. After a quick check,
the troop confirmed the figure of missing to be true.

The cable revealed that the message ignited great fury in
the soldier and his companions, so when they were ordered
to fire, they did not hesitate to fire their machine guns
into the crowd.
This action alone killed more than 1,000 civilians.
Their bodies were then burned with gasoline and
carried away by helicopters.

However, beyond his wildest dreams, the soldier later discovered
that those so-called 100 “missing and killed" companions
reappeared in the army.
Realizing that he was deceived to kill civilians,
the soldier suffered great pains.

A victim of Tiananmen Massacre, Fang Zheng, was
chased down by tanks, having his legs sheared off.
He told NTD that over the years, he has kept thinking
why the soldiers became so cruel at that time,
even driving tanks to kill students ?

Fang Zheng: " What he disclosed has actually shown that
ordinary soldiers had consciences.
But why they were so ruthless in shooting civilians at that time?
I think there were two factors concerned.
One is that they got a firm order which they couldn’t disobey.
The other is that in the CCP authorities or in the army,
there exist some who stir up the soldiers’
hatred against civilians and students."

Fang Zheng pointed out that the CCP authorities used to
create hatred before executing a plot of massacre, and
the means it used to incite hatred are diverse.
For example, at that time, according to official reports,
individual soldiers were killed by “some thugs. “

Fang Zheng: " As for the killing of soldiers by so-called thugs,
the persons who first instigated the incident might be
some plain-clothed agents or some type of CCP secret agents.
For example, in the Egypt revolution, they caught a lot of
plain clothed persons, whose undercover role was exactly
to create chaos, bloodshed conflicts, to create excuses
and opportunities for the authorities’ suppression."

The cable also revealed that after the Tiananmen Massacre,
the soldier who was on leave received an order:
He was not allowed to talk with anyone about the troops.
His mother was also required to “remain silent."

Zhang Xianling (Tiananmen Mother): " In any case, under
the circumstances of peaceful demonstrations by civilians,
the CCP authorities, for no reason at all, killed unarmed
civilians, including my son.
Such action is the same as a sin, it’s a crime.
I hope that anyone who participated in the Tiananmen
Massacre, who knows about the truth,
or who witnessed the incident, please speak out the truth."

So far, due to CCP’s blockade, the exact death toll for
1989 Tiananmen Massacre has been difficult to calculate.
Feng Congde, a leader of the 1989 democracy movement,
now lives in the U.S.. After years of investigation,
he estimates that about 3,000 people were massacred.
Some people believe that death toll figures should be up to
tens of thousands.
