Tianjin Police Director Commits More Than Corruption

July 20, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection
(CCDI) announced Tianjin Public Security Bureau Director
Wu Changshun is under investigation.

He was accused of serious violation of discipline and law.
Mainland media reported that he received huge kickbacks.

Critiques explain the downfall of Zhou Yongkang has everyone
in the Politics and Law Committee at risk.

Just a few days ago, Wu Changshun was still the leader
of Tianjin and hit the news on the Tianjin Page of Xinhuanet.

On the 20th in the afternoon, Wu Changshun again appeared
in the news release.

The CCDI website read, “Deputy Chair of Tianjin political
commissar as well as the Tianjin Municipal Public Security
Bureau Director, Wu Changshun, alleged serious violation
of principle and law, is currently under investigation."

Wu Changshun is the first vice-ministerial level official
of Tianjin being sacked.

Sources told media that he accepted huge bribes.

Investigators have confiscated more than 100 million yuan
worth of belongings from his home.

Wu Changshun was sacked on July 20.

Exactly 15 years ago on this day, the CCP began the repression
of Falun Gong.

The Tianjin Public Security Bureau led by Wu Changshun
directly participated in the Tianjin Incident, the prelude
of the repression.

The downfall of Wu Changshun has naturally triggered
massive overseas reports of Wu’s involvement
in the persecution of Falun Gong.

Commentator Zhang Sutian: “Wu Changshun was not sacked
simply over economic crime.

The Zhongnanhai appeal on April 25, 1999 in Beijing was
caused by Wu Changshun and his predecessor, Song Pingshun.

Wu Changshun had a major role in the plot
set up by Luo Gan and He Zuoxiu."

The Tianjin Incident in April 1999 took place when He Zuoxiu,
a relative of former political and legislative affairs committee
secretary, Luo Gan, published an article on Tianjin’s Science
Review for Juveniles with fabricated information
to defame Falun Gong.

In reaction to He Zuoxiu’s slandering article, some Falun Gong
practitioners in Tianjin voluntarily approached the magazine
to clarify the facts.

Falun Gong practitioners’ peaceful and rational explanation
had the magazine ready to correct their statement.

But, Tianjin Public Security Bureau dispatched the riot police
and conducted the beating and arrest
of 45 Falun Gong practitioners.

Police claimed the order came from Beijing
and told the practitioners to reflect the situation to Beijing.

Thus, the April 25 peaceful petition of 10,000 Falun Gong
practitioners to Beijing took place.

Accordingly, Wu Changshun was promoted to deputy secretary
of Tianjin political commissar and deputy director
of Tianjin Public Security Bureau in September 1998.

Song Pingshun, then Tianjin Public Security Bureau Director
who promoted Wu, had committed suicide in 2007
on alleged abuse of power and corruption.

Zhang Sutian: “The persecution has lasted for 15 years
since the April 25 petition.

Hundreds of millions of Chinese were persecuted.

The tragedy of Song Pingshun and Wu Changshun
clearly identified an old Chinese saying:
What goes around comes around.
It’s justice."

In the past 15 years of persecution, many Falun Gong
practitioners in Tianjin have been persecuted to death.

For example, Lee Wenxia died in 2008.

Wang Yajun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Tianjin:
“She told me herself that they locked her in the restroom
of the labor camp.

To prevent her from sleep, they flood the restroom.

One day, a policeman kicked her right in the stomach.
Since then, she had not been able to eat.

She lost more than 30 lbs. When I saw her two years later,
she was skinny to the bone."

In 2006, Falun Gong practitioners in Tianjin had issued
an open letter to Wu Changshun and asked him to quit
following the CCP order and stop the persecution
of human rights.

However, according to the Minghui.org statistics,
as police chief, Wu Changshun continued to drive
the persecution and directed the arrest
of Falun Gong practitioners.

Zhang Sutian: “The downfall of Wu Changshun shows
the political and legislative system is undergoing a full range
of cleaning, from the central to the province and city.

I believe the downfall of Zhou Yongkang and the diminishing
power of Jiang Zemin will lead to more crackdown
on their gangs in the political and legislative system."

Partial data have revealed that just in 2012, Tianjin had
experienced 110 Falun Gong practitioners being abducted
and homes raided; 11 were sentenced to forced labor;
and 11 imprisoned on illegitimate charges.

Last year, 76 Falun Gong practitioners in Tianjin were
kidnapped and homes raided; 22 people were sentenced.

This year, 50 Falun Gong practitioners in Tianjin were kidnapped,
and 11 people were sentenced.

As of July this year, more than 92 Falun Gong practitioners
have been known to be persecuted to death in Tianjin.
