Russia Rejects China’s Tainted Nuts

Russia recently returned large amounts of tainted
peanuts, rice, and buckwheat imports from China.
Russian officials say they are very concerned
about Chinese tainted foods.
If China does not solve its food safety problems,
it will affect trades between the two countries.

Voice of America (VOA) reported on May 24
that Russia’s Baikal Krai rejected 180 tons. of peanuts
to China as local food safety authorities detected
heavy metal chromium in the peanuts from China.

Primorsky Krai also returned approximately 60 tons
of tainted peanuts to China.

According to Russian food safety authorities,
Krasnodar and Adygea region recently suspended
about 175 tons of buckwheat imported from China
due to the lack of food safety paperwork.
The buckwheat was said to emit strong odors.

Russian officials say that rice imports from China
are also problematic. Russia has already banned
most meat imports from China. Officials warn
that if China doesn’t solve its food safety problem,
it will affect trades.

Business Week published an article “Broken China”,
asking the question, “Will China improve?”

The article points out that food safety in China,
among other issues, shows that the CCP’s
(Chinese Communist Party) administrative system
is fundamentally flawed.

A Seattle Post-Intelligencer investigation revealed
that China was involved in “honey laundering.”
In 2009, several tons of Chinese honey
were disguised as products of other countries,
and passed through ports in Tacoma, WA,
and Long Beach, CA, after being fraudulently
repackaged as a product of Russia.

As congressman Frank Wolf once said:
“Remember that China poses a threat
not only to its own citizens, but to the entire world…
The United States government
and American consumers must be vigilant
about protecting the values that we hold dear.”

Epoch Weekly sais, according to official statistics,
at least 300 million people in China
suffer from unsafe food related diseases each year.
Many believe the root cause lies in deterioration
of morals in society, a result of communist rule.
The article remarked that unsafe food
would not be eliminated while the CCP still exists.

The article compared the CCP to a poisonous tree,
and various industry leaders as its poison,
pointing out that unless the root is dug out,
the tree will always be poisonous.

The Shenzhen Internet professional,
Zhang Jinjun said to Digital Times,
that the Bureau of Quality Supervision itself is a fake.
The CCP controls all media, law enforcement,
and administrative structures; within such systems,
officials want to maximize their own gains,
which suits the needs of unethical manufacturers
and merchants. Thus the entire supervision
and administration structure becomes useless.
