World AIDS Day: Dramatically Underreported AIDS Cases In China
10 Million Victims Versus 500,000
World AIDS Day falls on the 1st, December.
According to a Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) official
report, there are about 500,000 HIV-infected people in
Mainland China currently with sexual transmission being the
main cause of the disease.
This number is very far below the figures contained in
official documents previously released by the CCP.
Those who are concerned with the situation of AIDS in China
estimate the true number of HIV patients to be
above 10 million.
They also revealed that the main culprit of AIDS
is the “Blood Plasma Economy" in China.
Please watch the report.
Wang Guoqiang, deputy director of the National Health and
Family Planning Commission claims that between 1985 when AIDS
was first discovered in China and October this year, the
number of AIDS victim has risen to 497,000.
This figure includes 154,000 deaths.
The Commission also estimates that the number of fresh HIV
cases in 2013 is 42,000 with 11,000 deaths, while between
January and October this year, the number is
37,000 with 9746 deaths.
The truth is, according to statistics from the United Nations
AIDS Planning Office released in 2002, the number of AIDS
cases in China had already risen to somewhere between 80,000
and 150,000 by the end of 2001.
Dai Zhicheng, back when he was appointed as vice president
of STD and AIDS Prevention Association in China, said that
the number of HIV-infected patients has already reached
1,040,000 with approximately 200,000 deaths.
Authorities from the CCP also claim that AIDS spread mainly
through sexual transmission, and that transmission through
intravenous drug use and Mother to Child transmission
has dropped to a lower level.
Gao Yaojie, dubbed as the “Leading Anti-HIV figure in China",
recently told “Voice of America" that the number of
AIDS victim in China should be above 10 million.
Gao is currently residing in New York.
Gao Yaojie said that as HIV has an incubation period of
up to 10 to 15 years, this gave the authorities a convenient
excuse to conceal the “blood plasma economy" disaster.
She believes that HIV in China is mainly caused by the
blood plasma economy, where blood donations and
transfusion are the main paths of transmission.
This blood disaster, brought about by local governments,
is prevalent in many mainland provinces.
Gao Yaojie is a retired professor from Chinese Medicine
Hospital in Henan.
She began her campaign against HIV after a chance encounter
with a woman who contracted HIV from a
blood transfusion in 1996.
Over 10 years, she visited more than a hundred HIV infected
villages and printed millions of copies of “Anti-HIV"
information materials at her own expense.
She has also conducted many investigations at underground
“blood stations", also her own expense.
Henan AIDS activist Wang Qiuyun: In the 1990s, about 90%
of all HIV cases came from blood transfusion.
Currently, it is mostly the college students and children
who are infected.
These victims received their virus from their mothers.
But the authorities refuse to admit, they put the blame
on sex and drugs.
Wang Qiuyun has been placed under house arrest
by the police since October this year.
She was prevented from revealing the HIV epidemic in Henan
to the outside world.
Lujun, a Hepatitis B and AIDS activist, as well as the person
in charge of Beijing NGO “Yi Ren Ping Zhong", said that
the government has been constantly applying pressure
to AIDS activists and NGOs.
Lujun: The authorities refuse to acknowledge the reality
of HIV infection through blood transfusion
and the sale of blood.
The official statistics therefore always exclude
this class of victim, whether intentionally or not.
As these victims have suffered a lot, they react very strongly.
The authorities put a lot of effort in suppressing these people.
Previously, whenever Gao Yaojie went to the village to visit
AIDS victims, she was always expelled by the local government
under the pretext of protecting state secrets.
She was also placed under house arrest several times and was
prohibited from communicating with the outside world.
Because of her involvements, her daughter was suppressed and
discriminated against in her workplace and by
the local government.
She eventually lost her job.
Another person who is actively involved in “Anti-HIV"
campaigns is Zhen Bingzhong, a former director of Institute
of Health Education under the Ministry of Public Health.
When he was planning to visit an AIDS infected village
that had 600 cases of death in 2013, he was surrounded
and stopped by 4 police cars.
Thereafter, Zhen Bingzhong issued an open letter to the CCP
Politburo, Congress, the Supreme Court and the Supreme
Procuratorate, stating that Henan provincial authorities have
been covering up the truth of AIDS epidemic in their province.
In so doing, they have caused at least 300,000 cases of AIDS
and 100,000 deaths.
Hundreds of thousands of AIDS victims and deceased relatives
are denied state compensation and any avenues of appeal.
Many of them are languishing at the brink of death.
In September this year, “Beijing Ai Zhi Xing Institute", an NGO
devoted to AIDS prevention and other charity work issued
a declaration condemning the police department of
Zhengzhou city in Henan Province.
The reason being for recruiting and threatening informants
from the NGOs.
In this declaration, they also protested against their
suppression and arrests by the Henan authorities for revealing
the AIDS epidemic in Henan and for helping the AIDS victims.
From these reports, it appears that the truth of AIDS in
Mainland China is far from being known.
