Save Gulden Temple and Tibet

On April 30, lamas from a Gulden temple
in Dharamsala, India took to the streets of Delhi,
with white characters on their black masks saying,
“Save Gulden Temple and Tibet”, in order to appeal
silently for international help on the issue
of Gulden Temple in Aba, Sichuan, China.
But officials of Tibet’s government in-exile
told the public that the Chinese Communist Party
(CCP) plans to take over the Gulden Temple
by the end of this year.

It is reported that last Thursday (April 28) evening,
Gulden Temple was besieged by armed police,
with over 300 monks arrested and two Tibetans
beaten to death. The arrested are missing since.

On April 29, Rinpoche Lobsang Tenzin Jigme,
who is in exile in Dharamsala’s Gulden Temple
in north India, appealed to the public in New Delhi
to help the Gulden Temple in Southwest China.

Rinpoche said that three Tibetans have died
in conflicts since March when trying to save monks.
Armed forces have turned this temple
of over 2,000 monks into a jail.
They forbade the monks to meet their relatives
or friends. Armies broke into monks’ rooms
and tortured them. The Gulden Temple has been
heavily guarded for 43 days, with State Security
officials, armed police and attack-dogs outside.

Danzeng Sangpei, a Tibetan human rights activist
residing in Switzerland, called for China (CCP’s)
restraint when interviewed over the phone
by Free Asia Radio (RFA). He said,
that China (CCP’s) authorities should listen
to people’s voice and do research on it,
instead of blaming people and making up facts.

On March 16, 2008, CCP’s army and police shot
the peaceful demonstrators in Aba County.
On March 16, 2011, a 24-year-old monk
from Gulden Temple, Ren Zhenpeng, protested
against CCP’s brutalities by self-immolation,
triggering mass protests in Tibet.

According to RFA, on April 26, three Tibetans
from Ganzi and Dege were viciously beaten
and arrested because of distributing protest leaflets.
Voice of Tibet-Norway, organized by overseas
Tibetans, revealed that on April 16, a nun named
Jampa Cuo from Luhuo, Ganzi, distributed leaflets
in Dege County and chanted slogans of “Free Tibet”
and “Allow Dalai Lama to return to Tibet”.
She was beaten and arrested by police.

According to unofficial information, in order
to control the temple, CCP plans to narrow down
the number of monks in Gulden Temple
from over 2,000 to 400.
Chinese Affairs of Tibet-in-exile government’
officials revealed that the CCP plans to take over
Gulden Temple by the end of the year.

Tibetan Human Rights Watch Group revealed
that CCP’s army and police have killed four people
since March 16. Also, 40 to 50 local women’s
arms and legs were broken by the authorities.
International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) said
that since April 12, about 200 senior Tibetans
guarding outside the temple were viciously beaten
by the armed police. Many people’s arms and legs
were broken and two people were beaten to death.

It is reported that CCP treats religious people
with a high-handed policy, fearing
that the Jasmine Revolution will rise in China.
On April 10, Beijing Shouwang Church followers
were meeting and praying outdoors, but were
dispersed by authorities, with over 100 arrested.

The Epoch Times published a commentary on
current affairs, “Who gives tyrannies the power
to slaughter innocent people?”.
The author Li Jianfeng wrote:
“CCP advocates violence and benefits from it.
The three theoretical stones which prop up
the regime are atheism, evolutionism and
class struggle. Under CCP’s rule
people are treated like animals and their dignity
and basic rights like freedom of belief
are trampled upon unscrupulously.”
