Facebook

Student Union “A Land of Filth”

On October 4, China』s major media widely reported

a blog post by Chen Wei,

an associate professor of Political Science Department

at Renmin University of China (RUC), who wrote:

“The Communist Youth League and the Student Union

at colleges and universities have become a land of filth."

This stirred the public. Scholars think CCP』s (Chinese

Communist Party) culture created China』s anomic society.

Xinhua.org and People.com.cn reproduced the report

published by Yangcheng Evening News.

The Xinhua.org』 article is entitled, “RUC Associate Professor

Blasts Student Union: A Microcosm of the Ugly Officialdom."

Chen Wei says in his article titled, “Students Union: Univ.』s

Darkest Corner,” the Student Union should be independent.

But in reality, it has become a tool for the Communist Youth

League and the universities/colleges to control students.

He points out that CCP members』 groups

and the Communist Youth League organizations,

utilize the strength of its system to lure students to deprave,

and to force the female students into prostitution,

tirelessly corrupting the students. The Youth League

organizations and the Student Union

spare no effort in turning the university students

into hostages of bureaucratic and vulgar approaches.

Chen indicated that student leaders are privileged stratum

at the universities.

Awards at universities are established and selected

by the Communist Youth League,

so the final award falls on student leaders,

and will be a credit toward their postgraduate exemption.

The Communist Youth League or Student Union is a shortcut

into politics. This has become a common model in China.

Jiao Guobiao (former Associate Professor of Journalism,

Peking University): “Student Union is a small officialdom,

for the integral framework is a unified bureaucratic system,

without a truly autonomous mass organization.

Other so-called social organizations have the same nature,

such as the Youth League and Women’s Federation,

all of these mass organizations are officialdoms.”

Chen Wei described the universities as having become

the first stage for students to rehears on

all kinds of wicked practices in China』s current society

and political system. How to take hints from the leadership,

how to accompany a leader for a drink, to talk officiously

and speak lies, to fawn on, to utilize their power, etc.

By learning these practices of China’s officialdom,

a 20-year-old college student becomes corrupted for life.

Chen Wei witnessed a simple, idealistic freshman』s change.

After assuming the role of a Student Union president,

the young man degenerated into a student officer,

with nothing but officious talk.

Former Univ. Student Union President: “Stepping into the

Student Union to join the CCP or become a student leader

will give you many advantages. China’s university

is the same as a small community, a small dye vat.”

Chen Wei said that many practices of the Student Union

are simply copies of the worst behavior of the CCP system.

For example, a Student Union』 president keeps stiff upper lip,

asks his men to recharge his phone and to pay for his dinner.

It is also an indisputable fact that using public funds for

recreational activities prevails in the student organizations.

It is even harder for a freshman to join the Student Union

than to find a job after graduation.

Tianfu Morning Paer reported that this year,

the Student Union of Southwest Jiaotong University

offered 60 job positions, but attracted 3,000 freshmen』s

registrations. The acceptance rate was only around 2%.

At the opening ceremony of Fudan University this fall,

President Yang Yuliang said that current universities,

as well as various issues exposed in the whole society,

reflected the loss of spirit in Chinese society.

Renown historian, Professor Yu Ying-shih said,

that China’s crisis is the crisis of culture.

Sun Wenguang (Retired Professor, Shandong University):

“There exists such a problem in universities and society.

Values are getting lost, there is moral decay, little or even no

faith at all. The root cause is CCP’s one-party dictatorship.

In China』s society, there is no social justice, fairness

and moral dignity. Lots of people are drifting along.”

Professor Yu Ying-shih pointed out that the CCP instilling

its party culture into Chinese civilians』 minds,

results in the disappearance of the real traditional Chinese

culture. Those persons, corrupting without principles

take the upper hand in the society. In the current society,

there is no sense of justice and moral consciousness.

Such a society cannot last for long, ending up in a chaos.
