Greetings from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all those attending the marvellous Shen Yun Performing Arts production of traditional Chinese dance and music. On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I would like to thank all Canadians of Chinese heritage for their invaluable contribution to diverse and multicultural Canada.
Shen Yun Performing Arts presents a world-class performance and an exhilarating celebration of China’s traditional arts. The expression of art such as this creates a mosaic of colourful and exhilarating thoughts and ideas that can reach people of all ages and backgrounds. This is a great occasion for all Canadians to discover Chinese civilization through one of the most exhilarating examples of its culture and traditions.
Canadians of Chinese descent can be very proud of the tremendous contributions they continue to make to our diverse society. As Prime Minister Harper noted: “Chinese Canadians have a prominent place in our nation’s history and culture heritage.
From the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, to the development of vibrant Chinese Canadian business communities in all our major cities, Canada has been immeasurably enriched by the contributions of Chinese Canadians”.
As Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, I thank the artists of this inspiring performance for delighting Canadians with their impressive talent. All Canadians join me in wishing Shen Yun Performing Arts the very best in their future endeavours.
Please enjoy a most wonderful show.
The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP
