Bo Guagua’s Witness Statement Given to the Murder Trial

Bo Xilai’s wife Gu Kailai and the house servant

Zhang Xiaojun will stand trial on August 9 on charge of killing British businessman Neil Heywood.

Bo Guagua, the son of Gu Kailai has provided a witness

statement to his mother’s defense lawyers, according to a CNN news report.

On August 7, CNN had confirmation of this with

an email from Bo Guagua, saying that

since he was cited as a motivating factor

for the crimes accused of Gu Kailai,

he has already submitted his witness statement."

Bo Guagua did not reveal the content of his statement.

China’s lawyers commented that the relatives’testimony is

weak if not accompanied by other supporting materials.

The Epoch Times quoted Mr. Guan, a Beijing-based lawyer,

saying that

if Bo Guagua’s testimony can be proved by other evidences,

then it may be admissible to the court.

Otherwise, the court would ignore it,

taking into account that they are relatives.

The authorities of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) claimed,

that “issues of economic interest" are what triggered conflicts

between Gu Kailai and her son with Neil Heywood.

Gu and accomplice Zhang, viewing Heywood as a threat to

Bo Guagua’s safety, killed him with poison in November 2011, said the CCP official media.

Under the CCP’s laws, intentional homicide would usually be

sentenced to life imprisonment, stay of execution, or death.

Province-wide Business Strike Calling to Oust Liaoning Governor

Shenyang’s business strike has so far spread to

the entire Liaoning Province.

The merchants’ strike was ignited by the excessive penalties

meted out by the local CCP authorities.

The issue has outraged the local public,

with some demanding in a letter to the CCPs top leaders

that Liaoning governor Chen Zhenggao be ousted.

According to overseas Chinese media reports, on August 7,

a deputy-level CCP official said that

96 National People’s Congress deputies and members of

Political Consultant Committee of Liaoning Province

have signed a letter urging the CCP central committee

to conduct a thorough investigation into the business strike.

They appealed to dismiss Liaoning Governor

Chen Zhenggao “to satisfy the public desire."

The large-scale business strike of Shenyang derived from

a 10-day battle against economic crime launched by the public security system of Liaoning in mid-July.

Some major open markets in Shenyang became

the first batch of victims.

They were punished by local firefighting department,

the quality supervision department and other authorities.

for not having acquired a deforestation permit.

A tofu vendor was fined 5,000 yuan

for not wearing a mask.

A Pedi cab driver was fined 5,000 yuan

for not possessing a road transport permit.

Many private business owners were imposed with fines,

ranging from 20,000 to 200,000 yuan.

A broom vendor was fined 50,000 yuan.

A small supermarket was fined 10,000 yuan for each fly found indoors.

The excessive penalization lasted for one week.

Over 80% of merchants in Shenyang were forced to

close their businesses under the severe penalties.

The trend of businesses shutting down kept spreading

to other cities including Dalian, Benxi, Anshan, Fushun.

Over last two days, the CCP authorities in Shenyang tried to

persuade local businesses to resume their operations,

but a lot of merchants said that their fight would continue.
