Zhou Yongkang “Returns to Public” And Disappeared Again

Zhou Yongkang, former head of the Political and Law
Commission (PLC), had disappeared from public view.
Recently, media in Hong Kong published two
brief news about Zhou’s recent reappearance.
However, the news was deleted quickly. Why?
Let’s take a look at what our analysts say.

On July 2, Hong Kong’s Wenweipo website circulated
an article from the Suzhou High School website.
It said that Zhou Yongkang had visited his old school in April.

The report said that on April 29, escorted by top
officials, Zhou visited the Suzhou High School.
This news was published on Suzhou High School
official website on May 27, which was a month late.
In addition, the report didn’t mention Zhou’s former title.

Interestingly, the news has subsequently
disappeared from the website today.
The title of the article can still be viewed
on Google, but the content is deleted.
On the Suzhou High School website, from April 29
to date, there is no news about Zhou’s visit.

What is the reason behind Zhou “being
seen in public”, and disappearing again?

Wu Fan, contributing editor to US-based China Affairs
magazine, said that it indicated the Chinese Communist
Party’s (CCP) internal struggle had intensified.
In late June, in a Politburo meeting, Xi Jinping criticized
members of the PLC for not maintaining CCP central power.

Wu Fan: “Xi mainly spoke to Liu Yunshan and
two other members, who were pushed forward
by Jiang Zemin and Zhou Yongkang.
In some way, Xi said to Jiang and Zhou, that Xi pointed
his spearhead toward Zhou Yongkang and his allies.
News about Zhou’s reappearance shows that he
either was threatened, or tried to show his strength.”

Wu Fan speculated that deletion of the
news was likely to be Xi’s suggestion.

Wu Fan: “In other words, Zhou has retired, is no longer
in his position, so what did he want from showing up?
I think, the CCP’s top level struggle has intensified.”

Sources said that after the CCP 18th Conference,
three of the highest level officials were removed.
This was all associated to Zhou Yongkang. The
public recognized Zhou as a supporter of Bo Xilai.
Zhou was also a key person involved
in the Bo Xilai and Wang Lijun incidents.
In March, China’s search engine Baidu
published a series of news articles.
It said that Zhou and Bo conspired in a
coup in order to seize Xi Jinping’s power.

In addition, Zhou and Jiang Zemin are
involved in the persecution of Falun Gong.
Both have participated in crimes of live organ
harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners.
In April 2012, when Li Changchun, former
member of the Politburo visited the UK,
a telephone conversation was exposed.
The conversation further indicated Zhou’s
involvement in live organ harvesting.

In the phone conversation, an investigator from the
World Organization to Investigate the Persecution
of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) posed as manager
Zhang from Lu Gan’s office, the PLC secretary.

WOIPFG investigator: “Hello, is this Comrade Li Changchun?”
Li Changchun: “Oh, yes.”
WOIPFG investigator: “They were asking that, well…

we got information that while you and Jia Qinglin
are away from Beijing, we should use Bo Xilai’s
involvement in murdering and removing organs
from Falun Gong practitioners to convict Bo…”
Li Changchun: “You should contact Zhou Yongkang, as
he is in charge of this specifically. He knows about it.
Ok, I’ll have my secretary talk to you directly.”

The Epoch Times reported that when Zhou was in charge of
the PLC system, they have accumulated many bloody-debts.
Pu Zhiqiang, a human rights lawyer, used his real
name on three microblogs to expose Zhou’s crimes.
He said that Zhou “brings calamity to the
country and made the world suffer severely”.

The Epoch Times said that Chinese society
openly requires punishment of Zhou Yongkang.
Since 2012, many times petitioners have
unfolded banners to urge punishment of Zhou.
Zhou seems to be a “a rat crossing
the street, and chased by all.”
