7-year-old Sells Brand Name Bags

A video was circulated online recently,of a 7-year-old girl,
selling her brand-named second-hand bags at the bazaar,
and claiming that her father is ‘a very high ranking official.’

This provoked negative reactions from netizens and made
people worried about Chinese children’s spiritual education.

“Hi, your handbags are all famous brands?”

“Yes”.

“What brands are they?”

“Some are Prada, some Gucci.”

“Did you bring them all here?”

“No, there are still over 20 at home.”

“Your family must be very rich.”

“Just so-so.”

“Is your family living in a villa?”

“What villa? We live in a castle.”

“What do your parents do for a living”

“My father is an official, a very high ranking official.”

This video of a 7-year-old girl selling brand names’ used
handbags attracted over 590,000 hits within four days,
and entered the list of the global hot videos.

The girl is at the children’s flea market sale. A hand-made
poster with the words ‘Xinyi Boutique’ was on the glass wall.
There was also written “Gucci bags, famous brands foreign
toys, Barbie dolls. 200 at home, available for booking."

According to her mother, the girl’s ancestors were business
people, rich, but not ‘very high ranking officials.’
She said sending her daughter to the Children’s flea market,
“is only because she wants the child to learn how difficult it is to make money."
However, some netizens believe that
the kid’s words are true.

The video caused vivid online discussions. Some wrote,
“Such a small child even has been influenced by the smear now, I see her as another Guo Meimei later on.”
Others wrote: “The girl does not show off their wealth,
but her parents do."
But there are netizens who said that the little girl just wanted
to do good things,
and those saying she “shows off their wealth" actually bear
too much hatred and jealousy toward the rich.

Zhang Jianzhong at the mainland’s anti-corruption volunteer
studio is more worried about the Chinese children spirituality.

Zhang Jianzhong: “A child is like a piece of blank paper.
This girl carries the stigma of her parents.
What the parents gave her were all corrupted things in society,
but the child lacks spiritual education.
That is why issues arose likeYao Jiaxin and the son of
Li Shuangjiang. This is very common in mainland China.”

Zhang Jianzhong pointed out that for many wealthy families
in China, “the money seldom comes from righteous ways."
They rely on power, officials are colluding with merchants,
losing moral conscience,
which makes people worried about
the next generation’s morality.
