Privileged ‘Beijing Four Childes’

A few second-generation wealthy and privileged youths
have been nicknamed by civilians the “Beijing Four Childes”

for their frequent and notorious public behavior.

Wang Shuo, one of the Four, Childes was involved in a car
crash in 2010 and pulled out a gun on the other party.

Recently, Wang Shuo was charged
with concealing weapons and drug possession.

The other party concerned in this case is a businessman,
who drove a private car with a military license plate.

This once again aroused public criticism of privileges
that are possessed by military police and the rich in China.

29-year-old Wang Shuo, a junior middle school graduate, is
Director and VP of Palace Century Development Co., Ltd.
in Beijing. His father, Wang Zhicai,
is an Australian-Chinese real estate tycoon.

Wangfujing Leopard buffet is one of his family businesses.

In 2010, on the evening of December 17, Wang Shuo drove
a Volkswagen R36 with the license plate

of the Central Guard Bureau of Chinese Communist Party
(CCP). A road dispute occurred when he met Wang Ke,

a rich businessman driving an Audi A6 with a license plate
of CCP’s Headquarters of the General staff of the P.L.A.

Wang Shuo pointed a gun from his window at Wang Ke,
the latter called the police and followed Wang Shuo’s car.

Wang Shuo violently reversed his car, smashing into the
Audi behind him, which caught fire.

The cost of the Audi was reported to be nearly RMB 200,000.
Before the incident, Wang Ke clashed with another person.

Afterwards, Wang Ke pursued the person in his car
and gathered several men to smash the person’s BMW X6.

At the home of Wang Shuo, police found four guns,
six military bullets, 2,000 bullets for an air rifle, and drugs.

On September 1, Beijing Dongcheng District Procuratorate
sued Wang Shuo and his five employees.

They are suspected of illegal trade in firearms
and ammunition, destruction of evidence,

intentional destruction of property and possession of drugs.
Currently, six defendants have been released on bail.

Wu Yue Sanren, an employee of China Daily, revealed
in his microblog that in the court,

Wang Shuo shouted at the police who handled the case,
“The director of the bureau you’re working for is my uncle!”

Many believe this might be the reason
why Wang Shuo was released on bail.

Wu Zuolai (Scholar, Chinese National Academy of Arts):
“These youths have now become public nuisances.

Any civilian who violates traffic regulations has to be
subject to punishment, but these elite’s children are exempt.

This condones their committing crimes. Behind all this,
there are definitely power-for-money deals involved.

But in reality, they are ruining their own children.”

Wang Shuo’s stepmother is actress Wang Yan. Reports
claim that he’s been involved romantically with actresses

Zhou Xun, Fan Bingbing, Li Xiaolu, Niu Meng Meng,
Kelly Lin, and Huang Shengyi, among others.

The conflict between Wang Shuo and Wang Ke
is related to their disputes over chasing actresses.

Wang Ke’s wife is actress Liu Tao.

In Beijing, Wang Ke owns Fu Cheng Virgin Investment Co.
He married actress Liu Tao in 2008.

The super-luxurious fleet in his wedding caused
a big sensation in the entertainment circle.

Wang Ke was later reported that within one year,
he was charged 6 times with selling the same house twice.

This May, a bank sued Wang Ke for his credit card
default, of over RMB 2.6 million.

There were famous Beijing Four Childes
in the era of the Republic of China.

Now, Wang Shuo, Wang Ke, Wang Yu and Wang Xiaofei
are labeled by civilians as the new Beijing Four Childes,

but they are merely actress-chasers.

Wang Yu is the third son of Wang Daohan, the former
Shanghai mayor and chairman of ARATS

(Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait).

Wang Yu is shanghai-based real estate magnate.
Reports about him are mainly about his relationships

with actresses Zhang Min, Zhao Wei, Huang Yi,
Chen Zihan, Jiang Xin and Li Yu who later died of cancer.

Since then, Wang Yu avoids the media,
living a low-profile life.

Wang Xiaofei is the only son of Zhang Lan, President of
South Beauty Group (SBG).

He was reported of being romantically involved
with Zhang Ziyi and Zhang Yu Qi.

Last year, he had a flash marriage with Barbie Hsu,
an actress from Taiwan.

Recently, SBG has constantly been involved in unhealthy
food incidents. SBG Qingdao restaurant was accused

of selling dead fish as live fish. SBG Nanjing restaurant
was reported to be using swill-cooked dirty oil for cooking.

On September17, Wang Xiaofei apologized in his microblog.

Beijing News comments that the assault incident of singer
Li Shuangjiang’s son has been replaced

by Wang Shuo’s illegal concealment of guns as the new
public focus, hitting sensitive nerves once again

with the public. Comments said that one end of the nerve
links power of wealth, the other end links social justice.

Wu Zuolai: “Families in the West believe in Christianity or
have other religious beliefs.

Religious beliefs have moral restraints, enabling people to
do good deeds from childhood, keeping a moral bottom line.

But in China, people suffer a serious shortage in this aspect.
Without faith, society will certainly decline increasingly,

while power and money will plague,
creating more evilness in this society.”

Comments on People.com.cn pointed out that
car license plates of Wang Shuo and Wang Ke,

were both military police special licenses.
This needs an official explanation.

Then why are these rich kids so arrogant and despotic?
A popular phrase used online might explain:

“The father is his son’s gate pass,
the son is his father’s epitaph."

Netizens in China analyzed, “Without a father of vice minister
rank or higher, will a kid dare claim to be a Beijing Childes?”

“This presents the gap between rich elites and poor civilians
in China.” “Its a government of “the RMB, not ”the people.’”

NTD reporters Zhang Lina, Li Yuanhan and Guo jing
