Xi Jinping Vows to Fight “Tigers”, People Wonder “Who are They?”

Chinese people think the CCP hasn’t done enough to fight
corruption, the fight has been on the level of “kill the flies, but don’t fight the tigers”.
Xi Jinping, the CCP General Secretary has vowed in
the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection’s meeting recently that he will crack down both flies and tigers.
Who are the tigers in Xi Jinping’s words?
People from different fields are playing a guessing game.

CCP mouthpiece Xinhua Net reported on January 22 that

when Xi Jinping was talking about anti-corruption in the CCDI
meeting, he emphasized fighting both “tiger” and “fly”.
He asked no matter who is involved, the CCDI should pursue
the Investigation to the end with zero tolerance.
But the report didn’t say which kinds of officials
are meant by “tigers.”

Then who are the tigers in Xi Jinping’s words?
People from different fields have different understandings.

Hong Kong’s Wen Wei Po reported that Mao Shaohui,
the director of anti-corruption in the government’s
building research center of Renmin University of China,

has said that in the following period, the two big “tigers”
the CCP will crack down on are corruption in the financial sector and corrupt officials at ministerial level.

Some overseas media have broken the news that

the CCP’s anti-corruption action will start from officials
in the finance industry after Chinese New Year.
Names of those to be targeted in this crackdown
are already listed.

It’s understood that just after the CCP’s 18th Congress,
a tweet said that the first targets of Wang Qishan,
the Secretary of CCDI, maybe the son of Liu Yunshan,
a member of Politburo Standing Committee,
also to be targeted will be the private equity fund of Li Tong,
the daughter of Li Changchun, former Standing Committee member.

In the last report of Hong Kong’s Trends Magazine,
it was said that in a standing meeting of CCP State Council,
Li Keqiang, the Vice Prime Minister mentioned that the five
central enterprise giants: PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC,
China Telecom and China Mobile are engaged in nepotism,

squander large quantities of public funds, collude with
dishonest businessmen, found “relative businesses”, etc..
Li Keqiang said:” there will be a serious accident if
those giants are not rectified, if they will not change.“

Li Keqiang’s comments are understood to be linked with
Xi Jinping’s “anti-corruption" campaign, and pointed to
Zhou Yongkang whose family was involved in huge corruption
the extent of which is gradually being unveiled.

Zhang Jian, an American Chinese social issues’
researcher said that,
the anti-corruption campaign should be started
from Jiang Zemin, the former CCP leader
this should include Li Peng, the former secretary of
the Secretariat of the CCP Central Committee,
taking in the seven members of Politburo Standing Committee,
Zhou Yongkang and other officials implicated in the blood debt.

It is understood that after Jiang Zemin took power of
the Party, regime and military in 1992,
his eldest son Jiang Mianheng or “muffled Big Fat Choy”
was named as the first corrupt official in China, this was said by many people.

Jason Ma, the NTD commentator said that the CCP has vowed
anti-corruption in high profile, this is a method that Xi Jinping has used to create a reputation on his debut.

Jason Ma: “On the one hand he uses this to draw people
over to his side. On the other, it is to strengthen his power.
But whether he will fight both tiger and fly is something
that is yet to be seen.
The reality is still a big question mark. I feel that he
just uses this anti – corruption to create a reputation but that ultimately he won’t take action.
Cracking down on all the corrupt officials to make
the CCP a clean-handed party is impossible.”

Shi Da, a political commentator said, the CCP’s anti-corruption
is a matter inside the CCP which isn’t concerned about the people.
People shouldn’t have big expectations.
Any over-expectation will finally be disappointed.
So, there’s a basic point: the CCP’s anti-corruption drive
is a scam for it’s own survival and not for China.

Shi Da: ”We’d better change our mindset. Do people have
any speaking rights, supervisory rights on anti-corruption? I don’t think so.
Last time people got involved in anti-corruption by
real-name tip-offs on line.
Then what was the result? They were rejected,
suppressed by the CCP. They were impacted.”

Shi Da said if the CCP wants to earn people’s support by
exposing corruption, fighting corrupt officials, it’s too late now.
He thinks the CCP’s anti-corruption drive is just a
“face –saving project”, a cry of “wolf” to fool the people once again.
