Facebook

Chen Guangbiao’s New York Charity Show Fails

Mainland Chinese wealthy businessman, Chen Guangbiao,

originally planned to invite 1000 poor and homeless to

have a free lunch and distribute cash to them

in New York City on June 25.

In fact, not only was the number of people he invited

greatly diminished, also, instead of distributing cash

Chen changed his idea by donating money to charity.

Some attendees felt being cheated and used,

with some yelling out loud and cursing at the scene,

which turned the charity activity into a farce.

Chen ended his show in uproar and embarrassment.

Please see the report.

Chen Guangbiao published full page ads in the New York Times

on June 16, claiming: Chinese great good willed man will

cooperate with famous U.S. charity organization to seek

1000 US poor and homeless to have lunch,

and each can receive $300 after lunch.

Since the restaurant in Central Park in New York can

only receive 300 people, some homeless people who

weren’t allowed to get in clamored outside.

The order of the scene was also chaotic.

Chen arranged for over 100 staff on site wearing suits like

Lei Feng, who’s characterised as a model of selfless

by the CCP.

They all wear slogan of “Learn from Lei Feng

the good example" on their chest.

During the lunch, Chen not only sang Karaoke music,

but also arranged for several homeless people to get on stage

to take a picture with him holding cash.

But they were required to return the cash after

the picture was taken.

Chen explained to the people that instead of receiving cash,

people will receive food at rescue shelter in the afternoon.

Some attendees felt cheated and cursed out loud with anger,

saying they came for the $300.

Some condemned Chen for using homeless to gain fame.

Some even wanted to sue him.

Some protested at the rescue shelter on June 27.

Chen invited a large number of media to report this

charity activity that fully turned into a farce.

Zhang Jian, China social issue researcher in the US:

Many people are angry about Chen Guangbiao’s event.

Firstly, it upsets Chinese.

He needs to explain to mass Chinese why he came

to the U.S. to give away the money.

Secondly, overseas Chinese are angry.

They think Chen’s a thug who even brought

his disgrace out of China.

Zhang indicated that Chen using such grandstanding ways

to perform his charity show has also irritated New York

citizens, US press, and charity staffs,

because he damaged the American value system.

The Executive Director at New York City Rescue Mission,

Craig Mayes, also questioned Chen’s action in New York.

It’s not the first time that Chen made such show in

New York City.

Months ago, Chen declared to purchase New York Times.

Meanwhile, he took two disfigured women, mother Chen Guo

and her daughter, who claimed to be the self-immolators in the

faked Tiananmen self-immolation incident 13 years ago,

in front of media in New York.

This time Chen, again, took the two to lunch.

Zhang said Chen being able to take Chen Guo and her

daughter, who’re strictly controlled by the CCP authority,

to the US is enough to prove that he plays an important role.

Zhang believes that Chen was dispatched to the US by

Zhou Yongkang’s faction, former senior CCP official

and former member of the Politburo Standing Committee.

Zhang Jian: Based on Chen’s history of being wealthy

and what he does nowadays, Chen’s every step is related

to the CCP bigwigs.

The CCP standing committee level officials have been

supporting Chen Guangbiao in secret.

Li Bin, chief editor of China Business, published an article

this January titled, “Why We Questioned

Chen Guangbiao That Year."

The story says the majority of Chen’s donations

are pure lies, and some donees don’t even exist.

Chen’s company was almost 100 percent in debt.

Chen becomes famous under protection and hype.

Whoever questioned him was also threatened.

US media The Epoch Times indicates that Chen is

a business spy at the Intelligence Department of GSD,

and he has close tie with Jiang’s faction in the spy circle.

Hua Po, Beijing political watcher: I think Chen Guangbiao

himself is a gambler.

I think his action this time is gambling.

He’s already stood in the wrong line, thus he can only use

his life to continue gambling, even if it’s a risk.

Hua indicated that Chen is like a soldier crossing a river

who has to continue walking.

Hua said the purpose of Chen’s trip to the US is to challenge

the current CCP leadership Xi Jinping’s faction,

and to embarrass Xi.

Thus, Chen’s result is not hopeful.
