Police Interrogate On-line Discussion About

Abolished Labor Camp

The police broke into Beijing resident Xiang Li’s home on

Nov. 20 because of her on-line post about the closing of

labor camps and concern over the detention system in disguise.

According to Chinese Human Rights Defenders report, two

police officers broke into Xiang Li’s home without showing

ID and questioned her about her on-line post regarding the

labor camp system.

Xiang Li documented in detail online about what happened.

In response to the police inquiry, she said: “The labor camp

is abolished.

The police have to question why we discussed

the concern over the disguised detention?"

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) recently announced the

abolition of the abor camp system, but illegal detention centers

still exist everywhere.

They include the legal learning class (brainwashing center)

designated for detaining Falun Gong practitioners and the black

jails for petitioners.

There is concern that the labor camps will one way or the other

return in various forms.

Russian Media: 28,000 Rivers Disappear in China

Voice of Russia reported on Nov. 21 that 28,000 rivers

have disappeared in China in the last 20 years.

It is reported that 20 years ago, there were about 50,000 rivers

in China, each covering at least 150 square kilometers of basin.

However, in a recent survey by the CCP Ministry of Water

Resources, there was a shortage of 28,000.

The CCP officials explained that the difference was due to

inaccuracy and incomplete topographic maps in the 1950’s.

According to a study by Yale University last year on water

resources such as quality affected by industry and household

consumption, among 132 countries surveyed, China ranks

in 116th place, one of the worst in the world.

The difference in statistics should not be the issue since most

of the missing rivers were clearly shown in the old maps.

The report indicated that the Communist officials blame the

statistical inaccuracy and climate change for the missing

rivers as simply an act to keep face and shirk responsibility

by the regime.

Guangxi Villagers Protest against Dam Construction

On Nov. 18, hundreds of villagers in Wei River township of

Guangxi smashed Nanshan Power Station to protest against

the hydropower construction for ecological damage.

According to the Chinese Jasmine Revolution report on the

21st, villagers smashed the Nanshan station manager’s office,

staff quarters, and computers.

They also got hold of 24 toothed clubs.

It is reported that the Nanshan Power Station constructed a

dam and cut the Wei River.

Consequently, it has seriously damaged the ecological

environment and led to the spring drying up, affecting the

water resource that supplies more than ten thousand people

in the Wei River Basin.

Since the beginning of the construction in 2002, people have

persistently engaged in multiple protests to stop this.

The construction of the project has not been completed.
