Facebook

Property Tycoon Pan Shiyi Seeks Help After Petitioners Plea

It is reported that Chinese real estate tycoon Pan Shiyi

has been hired by Beijing Court as a special supervisor.

On Monday, he microblogged that he was blocked

at the entrance of the company by petitioners.

Pan asked what he can do. His question

has raised public concern and action.

On November 4, Pan Shiyi wrote in a

microblog: “I was blocked at the entrance

of the company when I arrived this morning.

I asked the Beijing High Court office what I can do.

Their response was to let the petitioners

go to High Court Reception room.

The special supervisor needed to write his own opinion

to the High Court, after giving the matter his attention.

I don’t know how I can help them?"

Within one day, his microblog was forwarded

8000 times and also had 5,000 comments.

The comments included jokes,

encouragements and antagonism.

Some comments suggested Pan Shiyi

needs to get the help of a lawyer.

On October 31, the Beijing High Court hired 300 people

from all sectors of the communit, which includes Pan Shiyi.

Special supervisors can enter the Number 1

Medium People’s Court without permission.

They can attend public hearings of cases, and give

their own comments and suggestions on the trial.

Pan Shiyi continued to write: “I am willing

to fight for people who suffer injustices.

I am willing to try my best to help

improve law, and social progress."

Chen Miao, Beijing constitutional scholar: “When you

are a supervisor of the High Court and are writing

about it, then at least you need to do your job.

You need to receive people, listen to them and report

to the high court if they go to your company to find you.

But Pan is not doing this, and he

just wants to refuse helplessly."

Chen Miao said that since the Pan Shiyi has no

ability to supervise this system and help people

suffering injustice, he should honestly disclose this.

At 7:00am, on October 5, Pan Shiyi posted:

“Today several lawyers have volunteered to help.

People must be thrown off

balance by relying on me."

Tang Jingling, China defense lawyer: “Under the current

ruling system, it’s hard for Pan to take any substantive

action, as special supervisor within the High Court.

It is indeed just an operational measure

of the CCP to expand its mass basis.

However, they did not expect that the petitioners are

so agile that they came to ask for help so quickly."

Zhu Xinxin, former editor for a Hebei Radio station

comments that it reflects the Chinese people’s sorrow.

People wouldn’t block Pan Shiyi’s entry if their

problems could be solved through normal channel.

Zhu Xinxin: “It means the normal legal

channels are completely blocked.

The entire legal and administrative system is

completely dominated by one-party autocracy.

The whole rotten system serves exclusively for

the privileged class and for the officials interests.

So petitioners sometimes have to resort

to appealing to well-known people."

Tang Jingling: “Public defenders will

not have any unreasonable demands.

We can at least speak out for people’s

suffering if we are not able to resolve it.

There is much difference between who speaks out. Even

if it attracts one more person’s attention if you speak out.

There might be large impact if a powerful person

like Pan Shiyi exposed even one injustice per day."

However, Tang Jingling also pointed out that it

depends on whether he dares to speak for the people.

In September, the Chinese authorities arrested

famous netizen “Big V", for “spreading online rumours."

Pan Shiyi was invited to speak on a show hosted

on CCTV, China’s state controlled television station.

During the show, he commented that writing online

may attract the attention of tens of millions of people.

Therefore, it needed more disciplined

that big V, since one has so many fans.

Online observers said that pan is nervous, as

he had stuttered several times during the show.

“Huayuan Real Estate Corporation" Chairman

Ren Zhiqiang recently wrote in his recently

released book that Pan Shiyi never saw the world.

Pan stuttered when he saw Wang Qishan,

from Central Discipline Inspection sitting

opposite him in a meeting in 2003.

Pan Shiyi was born in October

1963, in Tianshui, Gansu Province.

Pan Shiyi founded SOHO China Ltd

with his wife Zhang Xin in 1995.

He is a well-known property tycoon and has

over 16 million fans on the microblog “sina.com".
