Facebook

Bo Xilai Case Hot for In-depth Investigation by Hu Dehua

Just when and how the former Chongqing Party Secretary

Bo Xilai will be judged has recently become a hot topic.

Hu Dehua—the third son of former Chinese Communist Party

(CCP) General Secretary Hu Yaobang—revealed his thoughts

in his latest interview with Hong Kong’s media.

Hu Dehua is calling on the new CCP leadership

to thoroughly investigate Bo’s case.

He says the investigation must continue until all alleged

offenders of the highest level have been found.

Hong Kong’s Ming Pao Daily reported Hu Dehua as saying,

that many people had reported Bo in the past,

but he had still been promoted to higher positions;

high-level CCP officials have to this day,

not explained who was supporting Bo Xilai.

Hu Dehua also says, at the start of Bo’s case, a CCP Central

Committee official had insisted the case was isolated,

with no other persons involved—but why have there

not been any investigations done to confirm that?

Hu Dehua suspects they’re trying to hide things from public

and says the CCP’s ‘anti-corruption’ is only talk, no action.

Former mainland history professor Liu Yinchuan believes

Bo’s trial will involve former General Secretary Jiang Zemin.

If Wang Lijun had not intruded the US embassy,

Jiang would have continued to promote Bo Xilai.

[Liu Yinchuan]: “Jiang Zemin’s group who promoted

and protected Bo was the main culprit in Bo’s crimes.

Hu Dehua wanted an investigation into

how Bo had come to hold such an important position.

I think it’s a very good question

and we need to give an explanation to the public.

The public need to know, who were behind Bo Xilai

and why was he promoted?

Officials had known all along that Bo was corrupt,

so why had they promoted and protected him?”

Outsiders believe that Bo and Jiang are deeply involved

in both the coup scandal and in the live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners.

But the CCP has been reluctant to disclose relevant facts

in order to safeguard its rule.

Thus, the CCP only vaguely mentioned some

“clues to Bo Xilai’s other alleged crimes.”

Bo’s alleged crimes include:

Abuse of power to benefit others and accepting huge bribes

from others directly or through family;

while Bo’s wife is alleged to have committed

the same crimes.

Sources say, Bo Xilai and his wife have transferred

up to 6-billion in assets to overseas.

Current affairs observer in Beijing, Hua Po, analyses that

Bo’s case will be decided prior to the CCP’s “two sessions".

[Hua Po]: “It’s estimated a verdict will come out

in March 2013, before the two sessions;

Mr. Hu Dehua wants to see a detailed check of the case

and a good cleansing of the ‘anti-people forces’.”

However, Hua Po believes Hu Dehua’s wish is hard to fulfill.

[Hua Po]: “In Bo Xilai’s case, the high-level CCP

had decided to investigate only Bo,

although I believe, Zhou Yongkan was deeply involved.

However, Zhou was asked to visit Singapore and Afghanistan

last year, meaning high-level CCP were allowing him to leave quietly and retire.”

Reuters reported in May 2012, that CCP General Secretary

Hu Jintao had spoken in Beijing’s Jingxi Hotel to 200 Party

and government seniors, saying that Bo Xilai’s was

a ‘criminal case’—the news was not confirmed officially.

The public currently remain concerned about

how Bo Xilai will be punished for his crimes.

Liu Yinchuan thinks that Bo’s case is like a weathervane;

if Bo is sentenced lightly—say for 10 to 25 years in prison—

it will be hard for the CCP to win the public’s support.

[Liu Yinchuan]: “The CCP’s high levels

are stressing anti-corruption recently and we know that

Bo is a typical representative of corruption,

with his greed for money and with being a womanizer.

Many of Bo’s women are celebrities; and Bo promotes

corrupt cadres and cronyism, like Wang Lijun and the newly exposed Lei Zhengfu.”

Hua Po believes that Xi and Li will be credited

for their dispose of Bo Xilai.

[Hua Po]: “Bo Xilai was in the high level of the Politburo,

so his life is significant for both Xi and Li.

When new leaders come to power in China,

they need to establish credit,

in other words, kill some bad people to win public support;

I think Bo Xilai’s life carries enough weight."

Therefore, Hua Po says he does not know whether

Bo will keep his life, or receive the death penalty.
