Ultimate Suspense—Will Bo Xilai Get Judgment in 2013?

The case of the Chinese Communist Party(CCP)’s former

Secretary of Chongqing, Bo Xilai, has not come to a close

—its outcome is said to become the biggest suspense story

of Mainland China in 2013.

In February 2012, the former vice mayor of Chongqing,

Wang Lijun ran to the U.S. Consulate to seek political asylum,

exposing his immediate boss, Bo Xilai.

On March 15, Bo was dismissed from his post

as Chongqing’s Party Secretary.

Six months later on September 28, Bo was expelled

from the Party and dismissed from public office.

The authorities announced Bo as guilty of seven offenses,

including: abuse of power in Wang Lijun,

Bo and Gu Kailai’s homicide case;

accepting huge sums in bribery;

and having improper sexual relations with

a number of women.

Much evidence suggesting Bo’s involvement in other

crimes also surfaced during investigations.

The Epoch Times published ‘Mysteries within Mysteries’,

a series of articles revealing that Dalian was the first place

—under the orders of Bo and his wife, Gu Kailai—

to carry out live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners.

Gu profited from selling the organs and corpses of victims—

mostly of Falun Gong practitioners.

Gu’s atrocious acts later earned her the nickname:

“heinous demon”.

The CCP mouthpiece, Xinhua Net, said in a news release

on the evening of October 26, 2012 that,

the Supreme People’s Procuratorate had decided to

investigate Bo’s case in accordance with the law and take enforcement measures.

Political commentator Lin Zixu says even after the

authorities had taken down a scandalous official for one year,

they still cannot give the public a clear explanation—

showing how weak the communist regime really is.

[Lin Zixu, Political Commentator]:

“We all know that the Bo Xilai case is very complicated;

its dark side, if exposed, can shake the whole CCP system,

so some time ago, the CCP had tried to cover up the facts.

But the case has attracted global attention,

so now the CCP can’t hide anymore.”

Political commentator and professor at George Mason

University, Zhang Tianliang says

the case may be settled prior to the ‘two sessions’ in 2013,

because Hu and Wen would like to see it finalized during their tenure.

Wen Jiabao, in particular, has played a major role

in the ousting of Bo Xilai.

[Zhang Tianliang, Political Commentator]:

“As for Xi Jinping, he is facing a great crisis—Bo,

along with Zhou Yongkan and Jiang Zemin

have challenged his position,

wanting to push him down—Xi needs to deal with Bo Xilai.”

Zhang Tianliang analyzes, regarding the former CCP leader

Jiang Zemin’s recent appearances for inscriptions,

Jiang’s faction is still trying to protect Bo, but Bo’s crimes

have been exposed and there’s no turning back.

The new leader in office, Xi Jinping, also must establish

some personal merit and credibility by dealing with Bo.

[Zhang Tianliang]: “The Jiang faction’s high-profile activities

aim at stopping Xi from investigating further.

They want Bo’s case to end now, so as not to implicate Zhou

Yongkang but Bo will be dealt with, unless he dies suddenly.”

Outsiders say, Hu Jintao handed over power to Xi Jinping,

so Xi must make sure that Bo can never make a comeback

and that the CCP’s proposed route will not be denied.

At the same time, after the CCP finishes ‘cleansing’ itself,

it will likely take the opportunity to create a false image of

a great and glorious communist China.

Internet writer, Wu Jianguo, thinks that how to deal with

the ‘hot potato’ Bo Xilai, will be the biggest concern in 2013

and it will also be the outcome of the struggle between

Xi Jinping and Jiang Zemin.

[Wu Jianguo, Internet Writer]: “How the Bo Xilai case

will be settled depends on the contest between

Xi Jinping and Jiang Zemin—under the premise of

maintaining the CCP, Xi must attempt to reform and rescue it.

Jiang understands Xi’s soft spot and uses it to blackmail him;

so the outcome of the Bo case will clearly indicate

the result of the power wrestling between Xi and Jiang.”

Lin Zixu believes how Bo is dealt with

is no longer important;

it’s important that we recognize the CCP’s true nature

and its existing state of affairs, as a dying regime.
